Tax Accountant at Venture Garden Nigeria (VGN)

Job Description

• Responsible for corporate tax planning
• Liaise with regulatory agencies (FIRS, LIRS, NITDEF, etc.) for tax audit
• Ensure prompt remittance and filing of VAT, ITF, CIT, PAYEE, WHT, NITDEF, and other regulatory payment
• Prepare and maintains a monthly governance tracker
• Generates business insight report on taxation
• Work with the assigned business area to understand how the business works and support the business to deliver agreed targets by providing insightful analysis and reports that provide guidance to the business on finance issues
• Prepare monthly Financial reports for assigned entry, including the posting of transactions, monthly closing of accounting books and production of monthly variance analysis against budget with detailed commentaries
• Ensure that all transactions have been processed fully and incorrect application of all relevant laws, IFRS standards, and regulations (e.g. Capitalization Policy, Intellectual Property Recognition, Time-Sheet Management, Provisions, Cost Allocation and Apportionment, Taxes, Contractual Terms, etc.)
• Prepare the periodic and ad-hoc operational reports (Payables, Receivables, Accruals, etc.)
• Update Standard Operating Procedure document for all major processes
• Ensures that all processing and processes required for a successful monthly month-end closure are done correctly and in a timely manner
• Treats the company’s financial data, information, analysis, and intelligence with the utmost care, caution, and confidentiality
• Stays abreast of all changes in financial regulations, legislation, and trends in the markets and around the world that has any immediate or indirect impact on the organization and its operations.
• Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by Line Manager

Qualifications

• An experienced Tax Accountant with a minimum of 3 years in Finance
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Vast Knowledge of the following regulatory payments (PIT, WHT, VAT, CIT and relevant others)
• Working experience as a tax planner
• Good writing and presentation skill
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong ability to analyze financial data and uncover insights
• Good working relationship with the following agencies:
• Federal Inland Revenue Service
• Lagos Inland Revenue Service
• Ogun State Inland Revenue Service
• A professional member of the following organizations will be an added advantage:
• Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria CITN
• Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria ICAN
• Chartered Institute of Management Accountants CIMA
• Association of Chartered Certified Accountants ACCA
