    Barge Operations Supervisor

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Day to Day supervision of all terminal operations including barging operations, terminal activities and others
    • Arrange and conduct scheduled barge crew meetings and training sessions.
    • Be able to work closely with terminal operations team members to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
    • Participate in the development of new programs, policies, and procedures to enhance the quality of our operation.
    • Submit weekly operational reports to Business Director of Barge Operations.
    • Plan daily barge scheduling as needed.
    • Work closely with maintenance team to insure barges are properly maintained.
    • Ensure proper documentation of containers to be loaded in and out of the terminal
    • Receiving loaded containers at barge jetty and ensures loading on trucks
    • Receiving empty containers from clients and ensures loading back to Port as soon as possible
    • Monitor product level in barge tanks in relationship to pressure control and temperature monitoring, operate diesel engines, electric and compressor motors, operate cargo pumps, operate cryogenic tank/pipeline valves, and operate manual and hydraulic booms.
    • Communicate professionally with all barge crews and personnel.
    • Assist with development of operations manuals.
    • Ensures successful compliance with state and federal barge operation regulations.
    • Directs onboard supervision of all high-risk cargo transfer operations.
    • Monitors all Health, safety and security issues and keeps Director of Operations apprised.
    • Responds to emergency calls at night, weekends, and holidays.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • BS Degree required
    • Manager must possess five years’ experience in an Terminal/ Port operational environment
    • Excellent communication skills for interaction with personnel from many other departments and locations worldwide.
    • Knowledge of planning / scheduling and how it interacts with inventory and impacts on-time shipments.
    • Excellent Computer skills and knowledge of associated software systems and processes.
    • Inventory management skills.
    • Extensive experience and knowledge of all modes of transport, truck, barge, ocean, rail, air, multi- modal  will be an added advantage.
