    Head of Investments

    Description

    We are looking to recruit Head of Investments for our client, a private equity firm. See the job description below:

    Investments:

    • Provide leadership, source and execute investment opportunities
    • Active contribution to the development and implementation of strategies to improve the portfolio management function. The position holder is also responsible for the implementation of agreed investment strategies and action plans, and ensuring adherence to investment mandates
    • investment proposals to the Investment Committee - actively work with project / portfolio companies
    • Develop portfolio performance benchmarks and targets based on factual market information on an annual basis, or at any other frequency interval requested.
    • Business development with the objective to build a strong pipeline of potential investment opportunities
    • Maintains knowledge of a wide range of investment and financial products, including trusts, stocks, bonds, and shares.
    • Lead market research and analysis efforts in order to stay apprised about the state of the global and local macroeconomic trends, extensive research into various financial instruments, and in-depth review of mostly publicly traded companies, in order to understand current trends, and forecast future performance, with the aim of applying this knowledge to managing the firm’s investments.
    • Maintain current knowledge about financial products available to corporate and individual clients, including bonds, stocks, investments, and trusts
    • Work closely with investment analysts to assess financial information and investment opportunities
    • Present investment opportunities and related analysis while pitching proposed course of action to management
    • Use complex financial models to project future earning and profit potential and uses this data to inform decisions and proposals
    • Make decisions about financial and investment opportunities on behalf of management
    • Meet with analysts and other managers, to stay up-to-date about market situations and company decisions that may impact one another
    • Review proposals for investment in quoted equities, bonds, and money market securities.
    • Prepare funds management proposals to current and prospective clients.
    • Develop relationships with clients and expands client network in professional and social settings
    • Lead due diligence, direct transaction team and coordinate transaction execution and closing

    Financial Analysis & Interpretation:

    • Responsible for presenting and reporting accurate and timely historical financial information of the Company.
    • Coordination of financial reports within the Company.

    People Management:

    • Oversee activities of employees and teams (i.e. hires, coaches, appraises rewards, motivates, discipline, etc.).
    • Work in conjunction with other senior management team members to set standards, priorities and schedules.
    • Coach, develop and mentor the team in their career development.

    Requirements

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Finance related field (minimum of second class upper)
    • Must be a qualified /certified Accountant ACA/ACCA
    • MBA and CFA is an added advantage
    • Minimum of 10 years’ financial experience, with at least 5 years in Senior Financial Management capacity spanning Corporate, Business Planning, Revenue Assurance, Treasury management and Accounting
    • Experience in a big four (4) firms is an added advantage.
    • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory issues as well as global best practices

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong budget and management skills, including proven ability to manage project/process.
    • Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
    • Excellent ability as a consultant/negotiator to influence company senior management.
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity, tight timelines, multiple priorities, and demanding customers, in a fast-moving, constantly changing environment.
    • High degree of professionalism, maturity and confidentiality.
    • Strong oral, written interpersonal and presentation skills.
    • Strong people skills- Building Collaborative Relationships, highly developed, demonstrated teamwork skill.
    • Demonstrated ability to see the big picture and provide useful and strategic advice and input across the company and on the executive team.
