    Deputy Programme Manager

    The successful candidate will manage the daily operations of the engagement team, which includes coordinating two sub-teams and ensuring efficient collaboration and goal achievement. The two sub teams focus on the creation of content and design assets for CfA’s sites, blogs and social media channels, as well as social media management and the promotion of CfA’s in-house talent, events and impact stories.

    The role will be for an English-speaking deputy programme manager. Proficiency in local African languages and any additional international languages, such as Arabic or French, will be advantageous.

    Required:

    • At least five years in a programme management or communication function, preferably within the NGO, media or tech sectors.
    • A thorough understanding of digital communication production pipelines, that help the team oversee and improve the development of blogs, graphics, design, video, podcasts and written communications including long and short form copy.
    • Experience with knowledge and task management systems such as AirTable or Monday.com.
    • Demonstrable experience as a communication manager, and an understanding of project management methodologies and practices. 
    • A track record of digital campaigns that resulted in increased brand visibility, audience engagement, and measurable impact.
    • An understanding of metrics, analytics and tracking tools to measure the success of engagement initiatives.
    • Capacity to juggle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment 

    Preferred: candidates who are able to demonstrate the following will have an advantage:

    • Proficiency in creating innovative and compelling content across multiple platforms, showcasing creativity and adaptability in digital storytelling.
    • Experience in managing and nurturing online communities, fostering engagement, and building positive relationships with diverse audiences.
    • Fluency in multiple languages, enhancing the ability to connect with diverse audiences across various regions and cultures.
    • Proficient use of social media analytics tools to track, analyse, and derive insights from engagement metrics.
    • Experience in planning and executing digital event marketing campaigns, promoting in-house talent, successes, and events effectively.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and nurture strategic partnerships with influencers, organisations, and media outlets for mutual benefit.
    • Proven track record of optimising digital campaigns based on performance data, refining strategies for improved outcomes.
    • Awareness of and interest in emerging technologies and trends within the digital engagement landscape.
    • Ability to manage and respond effectively to communication challenges and crises, maintaining a positive brand image.
    • Familiarity with tools and methods that leverage Generative AI technologies.

    Social Media Manager

    Candidates must have the ability to produce fresh, original content and a proven track record of promoting either a personal or professional brand. As the successful candidate, you will play an instrumental role in expanding our digital footprint through online content and amplifying the work of our experts and partners. 

    CfA’s Engagement team is responsible for managing CfA’s public audience by curating our platforms, communications, and brand. The team actively works to grow CfA’s reputation and amplify our thought leadership and accomplishments through compelling multimedia storytelling. 

    The successful candidate will work as part of a multinational and multilingual team using digital collaboration tools to create content for a global audience and international media partners. You will report directly to the Communications Strategist, and work closely with the Social Media Analyst, and Community Custodian.

    Required

    • At least 3 years experience working in a similar role. 
    • Familiarity with various social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
    • Proven ability to create compelling content that deeply connects with CfA’s core mission. 
    • Proficiency in using social media analytics tools to track performance and make data-driven decisions, such as Google Analytics and Hootsuite.
    • Familiarity with scheduling, automation and analytics tools such as Meltwater for social media posting.
    • An understanding of search engine optimisation (SEO) principles for social media.
    • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyse and interpret performance metrics, such as engagement rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates, to allow you to refine and optimise social media campaigns.
    • Experience managing social media campaigns and projects.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Creative thinking and the ability to generate fresh and engaging content ideas.
    • A portfolio showcasing successful social media campaigns or projects.

    Preferred: 

    • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
    • Familiarity with the non-profit sector and an understanding of donor requirements and reporting.
    • Strong project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
    • Working knowledge of at least one major regional African language, such as Amharic, Fulani, Kiswahili, or Yoruba. 
    • An understanding of generative AI and on its use in social media management
    • Digital-first workplace skill-sets, including proficiency in collaborative work solutions such as Google Workspace (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc.), Slack (or equivalents such as Teams, etc), and project management tools like Trello (or equivalents such as AirTable, etc).
