    Program Director

    Job Description

    • The Programme Director will collaborate and coordinate, in conjunction with Country Director, country and region teams, all aspects of Tearfund's Work in Nigeria.
    • Under the supervision of the Country Director, you will lead on all aspects of the country program in different field locations, ensuring relevance, impact, advocacy, sustainability as well as alignment with the Corporate and Regional priorities.
    • You will coordinate and collaborate with relevant professionals of the Regional and International offices and will be the overall person responsible for ensuring that technical and international programming standards are followed.
    • You will lead the implementation of the country strategy in line with Tearfund's vision, strategy, policies and procedures and may represent Tearfund to the government, and donors as well as coordinating with NGOs, including our local partners. You will also be responsible for leading and strengthening the country team.

    The successful candidate will: 

    • Understand the concepts of Church and Community Transformation, Environmental and Economic Sustainability and Emergency Needs Met, and how to facilitate a transition to recovery and development in the long term;
    • Have experience in how to build positive working relationships with local partners, church, denomination, religious and community leaders;
    • Have knowledge and experience working in WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods, including Cash,  Self-Help groups, and Gender and SGBV activities;
    • Have the experience to combine both slow and fast onset programs;  
    • Be a strong leader with at least 5 years substantial senior management experience in development work.
    • Have a proven and successful record of strategic planning and thinking; local partner resourcing; programmes and project cycle management, monitoring, learning and evaluation and fundraising; people and team management and development; operational programmes budget management; and ensuring compliance to donor and corporate systems and procedures;
    • proficiency in English
