    Hotel Accountant

    Job Summary

    • Our client is currently seeking a qualified hotel accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the hospitality industry, as well as a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
    • He or she will be responsible for managing the hotel’s financial records, preparing monthly and annual reports, and assisting with the budgeting process.
    • The Hotel Accountant will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for the hotel in compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts on a monthly basis.
    • Process Accounts Payable invoices in a timely manner and track vendor payments.
    • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to hotel management.
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
    • Monitor hotel revenue and expenses to identify trends and variances.
    • Conduct monthly audits of hotel departments.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all hotel information.
    • Adhere to all hotel, state, and federal regulations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by hotel management.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • 3 years’ experience in an accounting role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS), such as Opera or Micros.
    • Familiarity with revenue management concepts.
    • Working knowledge of SQL.
