    Group HSSE Manager

     

    For our company in Nigeria, West African Ventures, we are actively looking for an experienced HSSE Manager who will lead occupational health, safety, security and environmental activities across several business units. The various business units cover the following disciplines:

    • Ship management
    • Project management
    • Onshore fabrication
    • Offshore construction
    • Training centers
    • Tendering

    Are you an expert in engaging with all workforce levels to ensure HSSE objectives are met? That is what we are looking for in the right candidate!  

    While a high level of technical competency is expected, a natural command of the soft-side of the role is equally important. The Group HSSE Manager must be able to work with an international work force and all levels of hierarchy within the Group and successfully interact with the highest levels of our client’s management.

    The position is stationed in Lagos, Nigeria. 

    Main responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership and direction for your teams along with support for numerous functional groups
    • Determining, negotiating and agreeing in-house HSSE procedures, standards and specifications
    • Lead top down efforts to enhance HSSE awareness at all levels of the organization
    • Support our purchasing department and warehouse facilities in order to assist with managing the supply base
    • Ensuring processes comply with standards at both national and international level
    • Engaging with workforce at all levels to establish procedures, standards, systems and procedures
    • Author management/technical reports
    • Assessing customer requirements and ensuring that these are met
    • Ability to recognize compliance and risk issues and situations
    • Determining training needs
    • Setting and meeting performance indicators
    • Developing, implementing, and coordinating effective HSSE programs to prevent or eliminate defects at business unit and project level
    • Direct interaction with clients and lead problem solving activities on customer related issues.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Higher qualification in marine or offshore industries e.g. Master Mariner
    • NEBOSH, IOSH or similar
    • Company Security Officer
    • ISO9001, ISO 8001 and OHSAS 18001 certification
    • Knowledge of TapRoot, 5Whys, ICAM or equivalent
    • Lead auditor certification
    • Senior HSSE management experience in Offshore environment ideally in pipe-lay or offshore construction
    • Experience with shipyard management
    • ISM Code, ISO9001, ISO 8001 and OHSAS 18001 compliance
    • Experience with developing integrated management systems
    • Engaging with multi-national workforce
    • Creating a consistent and common sense HSSE culture – this is not a role for a “paper tiger”
    • Ability to understand and apply international and local HSSE laws, rules, regulations, codes and guidelines
    • Advanced knowledge of management systems and practices related to occupational safety and health and/or environmental management.
    • Good knowledge of practical risk management techniques such as HAZID and HAZOP
    • Experience with direct client negotiations
    • Systematically establishing and then monitoring performance management indicators
    • Fluent in English

    Group Quality Assurance Manager

     

    For our company in Nigeria, West African Ventures, we are actively looking for an experienced Quality Assurance professional who is capable of leading quality assurance activities across several business units. The various business units cover the following disciplines:

    • Ship management
    • Project management
    • Onshore fabrication
    • Offshore construction
    • Training centers
    • Tendering

    Are you an expert in engaging with all workforce levels to ensure quality objectives are met? That is what we are looking for in the right candidate!

The Group QA Manager must be able to work with an international work force and all levels of hierarchy within the Group and successfully interact with the highest levels of our client’s management.

    The position is stationed in Lagos, Nigeria.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership and direction for your teams along with support for numerous functional groups
    • Lead top down efforts to enhance quality awareness at all levels of the organization
    • Support business unit and project managers and quality teams to maintain robust quality control systems
    • Support our purchasing department and warehouse facilities in order to assist with managing the supply base
    • Ensuring processes comply with standards at both national and international level
    • Assessing customer requirements and ensuring that these are met
    • Specifying quality requirements with suppliers and managing approved vendor system
    • Determining training needs
    • Setting and meeting performance indicators
    • Recording, analysing and distributing statistical information
    • Developing, implementing, and coordinating effective quality assurance programs to prevent or eliminate defects at business unit and project level
    • Direct interaction with clients and lead problem solving activities on customer related issues.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Higher trade qualification in a pertinent industry
    • ISO9001, ISO 8001 and OHSAS 18001 certification
    • Lead auditor certification
    • Seniority in quality management in Offshore environment ideally in pipe-lay or offshore construction
    • Experience with shipyard quality management
    • Knowledge of root cause analysis such as TapRoot, 5Whys, ICAM or equivalent
    • Experience with developing integrated management systems
    • Ability to engage with multi-national workforce
    • Experience with direct client negotiations
    • Systematically establishing and then monitoring performance management indicators
    • Fluent in English
    • High energy and a ‘can do’ attitude, creating a consistent common sense HSSE culture
    • Ability to understand and apply local HSSE laws and regulations
    • Ability to recognize compliance and risk issues and situations
