    Catering Manager

    The prospective candidate will be responsible for organizing and coordinating the school’s catering services, while meeting the School’s expectations, food and hygienic standards and financial targets

    QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    • Relevant qualification in any of the following; Catering/Culinary Management, Hospitality Management, Food Science and Technology, Home Economics /Nutrition or a related discipline
    • Minimum of eight (8) years catering management experience as well as experience cooking for children in a boarding school, with evidence of financial, customer care and employee management skills
    •  Good understanding of the School’s operations, inter-relationships and dependencies
    • Knowledge of leading practices in hospitality management / catering
    • Excellent communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills
    • High sense of commitment, responsibility and accountability
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Good problem analysis and solving skills
    • Good negotiation and influencing skills
    • Financial budgeting and stock taking skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
    • High integrity and ethical standards

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee the preparation of meals for the school and ensure high quality of meals
    • Plan balanced menus in line with standard nutrition requirements
    • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen in accordance with domestic and catering standards
    • Ensure health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to
    • Ensure maintenance of accurate and up-to-date financial and administrative records for the catering function
    • Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers
    • Monitor quality of supplied food items to ensure compliance with agreed quality / hygiene standards and ensure appropriate storage
    • Manage the human and material resources of the Catering department
    • Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the department and ensure alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the school.
    • Provide overall guidance, leadership support and direction to subordinates
    • Assign responsibilities to subordinates and monitor them to ensure timely delivery of high quality results
    • Prepare and submit periodic activity / management reports to the CFO, on the activities of the School’s catering function
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the CFO
