    Grants Officer


    Location:
    Damaturu, Yobe
    Contract type: National contract

    The Position

    • The overall purpose of this role is to support the Program Quality Assurance unit perform its key tasks including grants management, reporting and visibility.

    Key Requirements
    Essentials:

    • University Degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, Project Management, Development Studies, Business Administration, Social Sciences or equivalent;
    • At least 2 years of professional experience with an international humanitarian / development organization with responsibilities of grants/program management;
    • Knowledge of relevant sectoral areas implemented by DRC Nigeria programmes – including protection, food security, WASH, shelter, NFIs, humanitarian mine action and armed violence reduction;
    • Familiarity with USAID, DFID, UN and EU donors with special attention to reporting and archiving requirements;
    • English - fluent with the capacity to produce well-written products for formal reporting and communication.

    Desirables:

    • Knowledge and fluency in Hausa and other languages used in northeast Nigeria
    • Ability to represent DRC to local groups and community members;
    • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment with competing priorities, tight deadlines, and in a complex emergency context.

    Roving Protection Officer

    Contract type: National contract

    The Overall Purpose of the Role

    • Within the scope of DRC’s Protection projects, the Protection Roving Officer will be responsible for the supervision of the Protection activities and team on his/her axis of responsibility.
    • The PRO is expected to travel to the field office on a regular basis according to the work plan established by the Protection Manager.
    • Responsibilities include the management and direct supervision of the Protection assistants operating in his/her axis of responsibility, the supervision of the protection activities, the representation at local coordination meetings, as well as the liaison with key local stakeholders (partners, authorities, etc.).
    • The PRO is also responsible for drafting Protection Monitoring and activity reports (weekly, monthly, ad hoc) based on key findings and achievements.

    Responsibilities

    • Under the supervision of the Protection Manager, ensure timely and qualitative implementation of the Protection activities at the field level, in line with DRC and international standards, and donor agreements. Activities include Protection monitoring, Referrals, IPA (Case management), Capacity building, Community Protection intervention, and advocacy efforts
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop teams of Protection assistants in field locations, as well as teams of Protection volunteers (including workplan, capacity building, and technical support)
    • Draft Protection Monitoring, activity reports, and evidence-based advocacy note on a weekly, monthly, and ad hoc basis
    • Represent DRC at local coordination meetings, establish and maintain a good working relationship with key stakeholders in areas of responsibilities (I/N/NGO, local authorities, camp officials, etc.)
    • Establish good working relationships and a high level of communication with the Protection Manager
    • In collaboration with the PIM Officer, report, manage and analyze protection monitoring and protection activity data and key achievement.
    • And any other duties assigned to him/her by the Line Manager.

    Key Requirements
    Essentials:

    • BA./BSc. in relevant field
    • 3 years Work experience in a humanitarian organization
    • 2 years Hands-on experience in the Protection sector
    • Experience with remote management will be considered as an advantage
    • Excellent communication skills (oral and writing), proven capacity to maintain communication from remote locations
    • High reporting skills
    • Strong ability to multi-task and work independently, attention to details, and highly  proactive
    • Preferred: Previous experience with DRC Protection Programming, demonstrated strengths in analytical skills, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing.

    Desirables:

    • Strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills
    • Excellent oral and written skills
    • Fluency in English and Hausa; fluency in other languages spoken in Borno will be a plus.
