    Job Responsibilities

    • Giving meals to patients
    • Moving hospital furniture and electrical equipment
    • Transporting clinical waste and dangerous materials
    • Taking patients from their ward to consultations and back again
    • Taking supplies to wards
    • Distributing post throughout the hospital
    • Delivering patients’ notes to the correct place at the correct time
    • Taking dead bodies from operating theatres and wards to the mortuary
    • Taking samples to laboratories
    • Moving specialist apparatus around the hospital

    Billing Officer

    Job Responsibilities

    • Determines patient invoice by capturing services noted in patient chart; clarifying services with physicians.
    • Issues invoice by entering service data; calculating charges; mailing invoices.
    • Resolves billing issues by discussing contract with third-party payer; explaining insurance contract with patient; negotiating settlement.
    • Maintains patient and invoice files by entering and adjusting data.
    • Provides billing information by collecting, analysing, and summarizing third-party billings, accounts pending, and late charges data and trends.
    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
    • Manage account balances to discover outstanding debts or other inconsistencies
    • Collect all information needed to calculate bills receivable (order amounts, discount rates etc.)
    • Check the data (e.g. tariff) input in the accounting system to ensure accuracy of final bill
    • Issue customer account statements periodically or whenever necessary
    • Answer questions and handle complaints from customers regarding bills
    • Report on activity to upper management
    • Daily sorting of processed claims/invoices for corporate and insurance patients.
    • Daily monitoring of processed claims and follow up with clients/enrolees to ensure all processed claims are signed.
    • Daily sorting of referrals for all corporate organizations and following up with patients who (for some reason) assessed care without referral to bring their immediately.
    • Ensure requisite approvals for processing of corporate / insurances invoices/claims are obtained.
    • Ensure medical reports / encounter form are written / completed for organizations are require them for processing of bills/payment.
    • Daily inpatient / outpatient bills monitoring
    • Monthly preparation and submission of corporate/insurance bills before official deadline
    • Report errors on tariffs (uploaded or hard copy) to appropriate officer in charge
    • Preparation of monthly bills dispatch report
    • Supervising billing officers and ensuring they are up to date with their assigned functions
    • Reconciliation of invoices/payment variations with corporate organizations
    • Attending organized unit meetings
    • Preparation and timely submissions of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly yearly report as may be requested by the Head of unit or Manager
    • Clearing patients for admission and discharge.
    • Preparation and dispatch of month account statement to family account holders
    • Preparation of daily inpatient report.
    • Advice and update inpatients on their bills

    Person's Specification

    • 2-5 years of experience as Billing Officer in a hospital or related field
    • Degree in Accounting
    • Proficient in MS Office especially Excel; working knowledge on ODOO or MediPlus
    • Excellent Math Skills
