    RTI International in collaboration with Plan International and other partners are implementing a 4-year USAID funded Effective Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (E-WASH) program. E-WASH will provide technical assistance to and will work in collaboration with state governments to improve urban water service delivery by strengthening the governance, financial, and technical viability of six (6) state water boards (SWBs) in Nigeria. The overall goal is improvement of urban water and sanitation service delivery.

    RTI International hereby invites applications from highly resourceful, motivated and experienced professionals to fill the following vacant position:

    Logistics Officer- Abuja

    Under the direct supervision of the Logistics and Security Specialist  the Operations (Logistics) Officer is to support the management of project logistical needs including but not limited to the processes of transport of procured goods, ensuring coordinated movements for all staff across the states, supporting international STTA when in country, and managing vendors. The logistics officer will support the coordination of the entire logistics component for the USAID E-WASH Program in Nigeria by ensuring compliance with RTI logistical and procurement SOPs in Nigeria, as well as its remote site offices.

     Essential Duties:

    Logistics Administration:

    • Support all phases of sourcing activity to ensure best value and within required lead times for a variety of requirements in Nigeria, including analysis of overall budgetary impact for all types of procurement transactions
    • Take the lead in the preparation and implementation of the movement tracker with timetables.
    • Oversee logistical management of the RTI E-WASH inventory and commodity requires for operations within Nigeria and the remote regional locations.
    • Ensure timely reporting on stock status to program implementation staff and help program implementation staff plan stock replenishment in various locations.

    Arrange airport pick-up & drop-off for Local & International Staff, STTAs, Consultants, ensuring that the traveler has contact details for the driver who will pick them up, and that International STTA are given a working local phone, pre-loaded with key staff & emergency contact numbers on arrival.

    Facilitate daily pick-up/drop off for Staff and Consultants (STTA) between the hotel and the office whenever authorized.

    Liaise with State Admin Officers to ensure that any inter-state travel is being appropriately covered and there are no gaps in the logistical arrangements.

    Manage Vehicle movement in Abuja office by coordinating vehicle movements based on the work schedule of the Abuja based team and visiting team members to ensure that all transport provisions required are efficient and effectively organized.

    Ensure that project drivers conduct periodic check of assigned vehicles and that the vehicles meet the minimum required standards for vehicle maintenance and driving.

    Monitoring and conduct analysis of fuel consumption of office vehicles (checking logbooks, overtime sheets and receipts with drivers) and submit final reviewed log to the Operations & Security Specialist.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations & Security Specialist and DCOP-Operations.

    Security Administration:

    • Arranging security briefings for STTA on arrival and ensuring that the Nigeria Security Manager and the Security Operations team in Abuja are aware of the travel details of staff.
    • Ensure that all travel by any E-WASH staff or consultant is pre-approved by the Nigeria Security Team.
    • Ensure the details of any trip made by an E-WASH staff member or consultant are known to the Logistics and Security Specialist.

    Minimum Required Education & Experience

    Master’s degree or Bachelor’s  Degree and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Skills & Abilities

     Additional professional training in procurement and logistics management preferred

    • The Ability to drive and the possession of a valid drivers’ license is an advantage.
    • Knowledge of USAID procurement policies and regulations a plus.
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and procurement software;
    • Strong organizational, reporting and management skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
    • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
    • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
    • Ability to build effective relationships with all clients, peers, and stakeholders
    • Ability to work hands-on, independently, and within team.
    • Demonstrated success managing and leading technical and administrative teams;
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented setting;
    • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to coordinate activities with officials from host country government, US Government, NGO’s, and other agencies
    • Experience in general business administration and financial management
    • Willingness to travel frequently to the field offices.
    • Experience working in Nigeria.
