ABOUT THE JOB:
The Community engagement officer will be responsible for all gender-based violence (GBV) prevention- related activities, including capacity building, outreach and awareness-raising activities with community members and religious leaders, development and dissemination of communication materials (Information, Education and Communication -IEC or Behaviour Change Communication- BCC and community mobilization strategies to promote community participation and engagements.
The Community engagement officer will oversee GBV identification and mitigation activities, train and supervise community volunteers to increase women’s and girls access to information about GBV services and importance of timely reporting.

The Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for the following, including those not listed but are extensions of those expressly stated:

Team work: develops and promotes effective collaboration within and across units to achieve shared goals and optimize results.
Delivering result:
Willingness and ability to take initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
Accountability: Attended trainings on GBV and is aware of protection issues
Communication: Proven experience in similar function desirable; Experience in psychosocial support, case management and community advocacy is an asset.
Project Management skills, including financial planning.
Good report writing and communication skills is required
Gender-sensitive and advocate for women, children and minority rights.
Qualification
Bachelor degree in relevant area of sociology, community development or any related field from a certified tertiary institution with at least two years of proven field experience.
Languages
Fluency in written and spoken English, Hausa and Kanuri (Kibaku for Chibok) is essential;
