InterContinental Lagos comprises of 352 well-appointed, elegantly decorated rooms and suites as well as a Club InterContinental floor. Guests have access to an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants, room service and the pool bar for lighter meal choices and snacks.     Pastry Chef - InterContinental Lagos (Job Number: LAG000128)

     

    Job Description

    • As the Pastry Chef you will supervise day-to-day activities of the Pastry Kitchen, communicate objectives, and assign/schedule work and develop, test and cost our new recipes and menu items for the Pastry Shop/Bakery.
    • You will oversee and participate in the preparation of, and check and approve, all food items prepared in the pastry shop and bakery and regularly inspect the quality and quantity of pastry, croissants, breads and other bakery goods for the buffets and for all outside orders.

    Key responsibilities of the role include:

    • The Pastry Chef checks daily function sheets and prepare items accordingly while controlling pasty items before they are received by the stores, making sure that they are within that accepted minimum/maximum par stock.
    • He/She will ensure the proper handling, cleanliness and maintenance of the working area and may serve as Manager on Duty or assist with other duties as assigned which includes but is not limited to producing centerpieces for banquets and buffets, setting and presentation of lunch and dinner trolleys etc.

    Qualifications

    •     Culinary art degree or its equivalent
    •     Good understanding of the Hotel Industry standards, policies and procedures
    •     Extensive international experience in branded hotels
    •     Experience in high-end city operation with multi unit F&B and large Conference & Event
    •     Creative and open minded
    •     Good business mind and commercial flair
    •     Good understanding of the local business and operation environments and markets
    •     Service minded and ability to involve and support operations
    •     Business savvy and good people skills
