    Operation Support Manager

     

    Job description

    The Operations Suppport Manager will support the GM Fabrication in the general running and logistics of the fabrication facilit, as well as manage all activities to ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality and regulatory requirements.

    Key Aims

    • Safety of all personnel
    • Provide leadership and support to the operations team
    • Ensure all work areas are being managed and operated in compliance with HSEQ manual and all relevant policies and procedures
    • Contribute to managing operating cost and implement effective cost reduction measures 

    Key Responsibilities

    In coordination with the various Fabrication Department Managers and Construction Managers:

    • Communicate on issues that will seriously affect safety, quality, schedule, client relationship or company reputation
    • Manage and coordinate logistics issues within the facility
    • Manage all Tool Room personnel in the efficient running of stores and supplies
    • Coordinate SIMOPS activities with other departments and chair SIMOPS meetings
    • Track and follow up on purchase requisitions in coordination with Supply Chain
    • Coordinate with Supply Chain on prioritization on PO invoice payments
    • Assist in the identification and implementation of training requirements in coordination with Learning & Development Department
    • Monitor the conditions of facilities, buildings, equipment and infrastructure and coordinate maintenance and repairs with W&F Department
    • Work with Shop Managers and Construction Managers on all projects to ensure the most efficient use of equipment across the facility
    • Assist in the forward planning and utilization of the yard space

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Degree in Administration and Management with knowledge of the Oil and Gas Fabrication industry
    • Ability to demonstrate a complete understanding and show commitment to the importance of HSE and Quality in the activities within Fabrication facility
    • Ability to take responsibility and accountability for department performance and to drive success through good leadership
    • Good communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to lead and manager a team and to mentor and train others

    Systems Administrator

    • Plan, implement and troubleshoot software patches, updates and security fixes;
    • Be involved in new Windows servers deployment projects, using the department policies;
    • Administer OS, Directory, email, Databases and Web servers + networking equipment.
    • Evaluate/recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripherals and software;
    • Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
    • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot servers, networks, applications, printers and other related equipment, devices, and systems.
    • Maintain site licenses for department/organization.
    • Develop and conduct various training and instruction to assist users in maximizing use of systems and networks
    • Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance
    • Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.
    • Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
    • Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
    • Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize system availability.
    • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the Data and Information on the various systems
    • Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.
    • Verifications of backup routines and restore capabilities
    • Understand performance metrics and maintain / optimize system capacity and performance;
    • Create and update system documentation
    • Follow the existing processes based on ITIL best practices
    • Availability to provide 24/7 support on duty rotation.

    What we are looking for:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree enhanced with technical training and certification or equivalent.
    • 5+ years of experience in support, networks and servers administration
    • Solid experience with Microsoft Windows Servers and Active Directory 2008/2012, group policies, certificate authority and federation services
    • Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010, mail routing and spam filtering, mailbox management, backup and recovery,
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, IIS and web services
    • Experience with VMware / Hyper-V is an asset
    • Experience with scripting languages
    • Experience with SharePoint is an advantage
    • Experience with storage management (SAN/NAS) is an asset
    • Experience with  IP based networks, communication protocols , firewalls and packet routing , LAN, WAN , VPN, WLAN, NAC
    • Experience with Cisco switches and routers 3560 and above models.
    • Knowledge of access control and security concepts
    • Knowledge of backups, high availability and disaster recovery of (AD, Exchange, Databases)
    • VCP/MCSE/A+/CCNA/etc... certifications are an asset
    • ITIL knowledge and experience is an asset
    • Good understanding of IT business practices and processes
    • Independent self-starter, needs little supervision.
    • Takes a logical approach to analyzing problems. Systematically researches information. Explores alternatives and implements action plans to resolve problems.
    • Proactive in acquiring information to develop new skills to improve job performance. Grasps new material quickly and easily, and applies new information, concepts and procedures in a constructive manner.
