Duties and Responsibilities

• Sterilization of all surgical equipment before and after the surgery.
• Maintenance of good hygiene standards.
• Conduction of instrument check before and after the surgery
• Quick hand over of equipment to the surgeon during the surgery
• Must possess the ability to stand on one's feet for long hours as some surgeries can carry on for many hours.
• Preparation of patients before surgery and wheel them into the operation theatre
• Communication of surgical procedures to patient families to help them understand the procedure
• Observation of patients after surgery and ensuring that they wake up from the anesthesia.

Requirements

• Applicants must have completed the required professional training and qualifications for their disciplines from recognized institutions.
• Applicants must be a registered Nurses/Midwives with Perioperative Nursing & Theatre Management qualification.
• They must have full registration and affiliation with relevant professional bodies.
• Applicants should have at least 3 years post qualification experience

Duties and Responsibilities

• Identification of changes in children vital signs and symptoms and intervenes in emergency situations.
• Management of children pain levels.
• Provides supportive care to children
• Evaluates a child for signs and symptoms of abuse
• Administers medication using age-appropriate guidelines
• Conducts Analysis of situations to anticipate pathophysiological problems and detect changes in children health status.
• Observation of privacy and confidentiality in nurse/child relationships
• Involves the child and family in the care plan and determines the child’s needs based on a careful analysis of symptoms in relation with their growth and development
• Performs physical examinations, such as measuring vitals, taking blood and urine samples, and ordering diagnostic tests
• Educates parents and families on how to take care of their children and protect their health, including advising them on how to design their home for conditions such as paralysis and juvenile diabetes.
