    Job Title:        Technical Program Director

    Job Summary
    • Will be accountable for building the technical capacity of the grantees and sub-grantees of an anticipated $32.5 million, five-year grants program in selected states in Nigeria designed to improve the well-being of OVC and their caregivers. 
    • Will collaborate with grantees and sub-grantees to plan and execute quality OVC services and designs and closely monitors the implementation of technical capacity building initiatives. 
    • Will lead and participates in national initiatives designed to improve the technical quality of OVC programming.
    • Will supervise senior technical staff, advisor, consultants, and other project support staff and lead the activities of the technical units
    • Will ensure that the senior technical staff, advisor, consultants, and other project support staff support the overall project strategic approach; are integrated into the monitoring and evaluation plans; and are coordinated at both appropriate levels throughout the government.  
    • Will collaborate with the COP to provide the technical liaison between the project and other donors and stakeholders operating in Nigeria.
    • Will collaborate with the COP and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Director to ensure proper integration of OVC programs and targets into the project’s operations plans and program results and works with grantees and sub-grantees to ensure appropriate staffing levels and resources at the State and Local Government levels while providing supportive supervision for key technical functions.
    • Will scale up care and support services for orphans and vulnerable children.

    Qualifications
    • Must possess a Master’s degree in social sciences, public health or a related field
    • Must have at least ten years experience in public health, including at least four of these in multi-sectoral care and support for OVC and/or people living with HIV/AIDS.
    • Should be an exceptional ‘self-starter’ who is able to provide technical leadership and expertise to a large ($32 million) and complex USAID project
    • Must have significant managerial experience on large-scale multi-partner development programmes
    • Must have worked at a senior level on a USAID project and, ideally, you will have first-hand knowledge of Nigeria. 
    • Must possess a Master’s degree in social sciences, public health or a related field
    • Must have at least ten years experience in public health, including at least four of these in multi-sectoral care and support for OVC and/or people living with HIV/AIDS.
    • Must have demonstrated ability to manage a complex programme, working collaboratively across technical disciplines
    • Must have solid knowledge and understanding of current good practices in OVC programming
    • Must Have proven expertise in developing and implementing effective partnerships with private sector entities and proven experience in designing, implementing and monitoring capacity strengthening approaches for government and civil society partners.
    • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a team and excellent oral and written communication skills. 
    • Fluency in English is essential and knowledge of local languages is desirable.

    This position is contingent upon Christian Aid Nigeria being awarded the project.

    • Experience in managing large child-focused field programmes for an international NGO
    • Demonstrated skills in strategic and programme planning and understanding of HIV/AIDS-related support services and experience in undertaking high-level policy dialogue with a multitude of stakeholders
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a team and excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Fluency in English essential whilst knowledge of local languages is desirable.
