    Reproductive Health and Nutrition Team Leaders (Nurse and Midwife)

    General duties:

    • Clinical management of pregnant and lactating women including during childbirth.
    • Management of common childhood illness.
    • Supervise the management of referral pathway.
    • Able to recognise their limit and refer patients to appropriate specialist care when necessary.
    • Supervise midwifery staff.
    • Prescribe and administer medications.
    • Support mothers and their families in the overall care of their newborn babies in communities.
    • Supervise robust disease surveillance and monitoring.
    • Any other related duties as directed by supervisors.

    Specific Competencies

    • State Registered medical doctor with strong Reproductive health background.
    • A minimum of two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the humanitarian field or a closely related field.
    • Initiation of treatment for women requiring medical intervention including triage of gynae emergencies.
    • Maintenance of drug and fluid therapy in accordance with agreed Patient Group Directions.
    • Initiation of treatment for children requiring medical intervention for common childhood illness, including triage of malnutrition.
    • Understanding of fundamental concepts and principles of a professional discipline (Duty of candor and duty of care).
    • Ability to work well in a team.
    • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
    • Excellent soft skills and the ability to work with people from different backgrounds in a caring manner.
    • Flexible and adaptable
    • Basic knowledge of standard computer software applications and information technology including electronic communication.
    • Proficiency in English – both written and spoken.
    • Proficiency in Hausa or one other local dialect (desired but not essential).

    Meal Assistant - Health and Nutrition

    General duties:

    • Collect collate and plan data entry activities for all Tdh’s health and nutrition projects.
    • Support nursing and medical teams in robust record keeping.
    • Set up and supervise robust disease surveillance and monitoring.
    • Ensure Tdh’s project data are in alliance and linked with State data collection mechanism and National databases.
    • Conduct quality control on data collected.
    • Ensure patient confidentiality on all records collected.
    • Prepare and make data sets available for research and academic papers.
    • Support the health and nutrition unit with accurate records for proposals and other documents as required.
    • Provide technical support in project sites and implementing communities on data collection and other technical areas.
    • Provide data entry training for project staff.
    • Sound competency on the use of data recording software such as Epi Info, EWARS etc.
    • Promptly identify and report missing information according to Tdh’s procedures.

    • Excellent soft skills and the ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
    • Flexible and adaptable.
    • Standard English – both written and spoken.
    • Proficiency in Hausa or any other local dialect desirable

    Reproductive Healthcare Assistants

    Responsibilities & Tasks

    General duties

    • Carry out basic Reproductive health/nutrition care as directed by doctor or nurse-midwife.
    • Supporting with patients’ registration and triaging.
    • Supporting the nursing team during health and nutrition talks.
    • Supporting the nurses with monitoring of basic observations (weight, heart rate, respiratory rate, BP, temperature etc.).
    • Taking initial observations (Blood Pressure, Pulse, Temperature, Oxygen Saturation, etc.)
    • Supporting the nursing team with reassuring women, children and their parents.
    • Assisting the nursing team with caring for women in labour where applicable.
    • Assisting with record keeping if requested by nurse midwives or doctor.
    • Provide assistance to doctor and nurse midwives during antenatal and post-natal clinics.
    • Provide assistance during mother and baby clinics.
    • Provide assistance during community outreaches.
    • Support with supervision of volunteers and cleaning staff to maintain hygienic surroundings.
    • Prepare common solutions such as ORS.
    • Any other related duties as directed by supervisors.
