We are seeking for a skilled, reliable and efficient project manager to join our organization. In this position, the Project Manager will work on MEP projects from the initial brief, through the design and development stage to the testing and right up to the Project completion stage based on client requirement and industry standard that meet high quality standards. This role requires a good organizational, leadership & communication skills.
Job Responsibilities:
Planning
- Implement an appropriate and effective project management framework, incorporating necessary review processes as required.
- Define and implement criteria for control and management of the project.
- Co-ordinate and direct end-user input throughout the project lifecycle.
- Appraise options and submit to the Client for approval.
- Coordinate the value management strategy.
- Manage project budget, including risk allowance.
- Monitor and control changes/variations following approval by Client.
- Develop strategic planning procedures for all MMIS projects
Risk Management
- Determine and manage risks that may affect the project in any way, particularly schedule, budget or quality/specifications.
- Facilitate effective communication and action as sole point of contact between the Client and site delivery team.
- Assist the design team and site delivery team to identify and resolve problems.
Site
- Co-ordinate and foster teamwork between all project stakeholders.
- Manage the design and site delivery team’s performance of delegated responsibilities.
- Establish an effective and universal strategy to address major issues that may arise with the site delivery team.
- Ensure the site delivery team receives the necessary stakeholder decisions in a timely fashion.
- Establish a mechanism to ensure collaborative problem solving with the site delivery team, which will involve regular dialogue with contractors, team working and risk-sharing.
· Provide analytical and problem solving support, employing engineering skills, in support Of business and quality improvement processes.
· Coordinate all technical issues within and around Projects
People Management
- Practice sound people management principles to ensure that MMIS team, contractors and partners works well and provides a supportive environment for the achievement of project and MMIS goals.
- Manage the welfare, leadership and motivation of MMIS project team
- Plan for and undertake employee performance reviews in line MMIS processes
Contract Management
- Negotiate and take part in contract management process when required.
- Provide timely regular and accurate reporting on the project progress, costs and quality as determined director of projects
- Accurately check and sign-off on all payment certificates and invoices.
Client Management
- Look for opportunities to improve the client’s position in regard to return and value, actively promote the interests of MMIS within the industry
- Identify and resolve disputes quickly and reasonably.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with client representatives, consultants, contractors and adjoining property owners.
- Manage and coordinate the project handover phase with contractors, client contractors, tenants and building managers.
· Ensure effective interpretation of clients requirements and ideas
Reporting
- Receive and review detailed reports on the project from the site delivery team.
- Establish formal reporting arrangements on project progress for the Client and MMIS.
- Prepare and send timely and accurate project status report to the director of projects and other stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date project skill database and resumes for the project team for use by the MMIS.
Research and legal knowledge
- Advise and assist in obtaining patents or meeting other legal requirements.
- Maintain an awareness of trends, knowledge of the market and may also conduct research/market intelligence in the field of expertise.
- Other duties assigned to you by the Director of projects
Requirements
- BSc, BTech /M.Sc. or HND (or its equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a reputable and accredited higher institution of learning.
- Minimum of 10- 12 years post NYSC experience with at least 8 year work experience working on Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Fire Services projects
- Proficient in the use of design/drafting and interpretation software such as AutoCAD MEP, REVIT etc.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification will be an added advantage.
- Must be a registered member of COREN & NSE.
- Candidate must have previous experience in MEP Engineering projects.
Membership & knowledge of ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines or any professional organisation will be an added advantage
