    Awards Officer

    Role Purpose

    • The Awards Officer will be working closely with local partners for regular financial monitoring and compliance of local partners across North East Nigerian Humanitarian.
    • Key areas of accountability are sub-award management and monitoring and have a role in partner capacity building.
    • The Awards Officer will also support Awards unit with AMS audit and documentation follow up.

    Key Areas of Accountability

    • Work with other program staffs to ensure sufficient review and timely validation of partner periodic reports.
    • Support Awards (Grant) Unit to ensure all implementing partners undergo capacity assessment prior to commencing work with Save the Children and during program implementation and are engaged with appropriate effective monitoring systems so that partner delivery meets donor expectations and requirements.
    • Work with program staff to ensure relevant donor requirements are effectively communicated and understood by implementing partners.
    • Ensure that all adequate partner attachments are uploaded on Award Management System (AMS) and are retained as part of the award audit trail.
    • Support on Award Management System documentation audits.
    • Work with program managers to ensure that partners meet project objectives and minimum standards in accordance with SCI policies.
    • Support with the review of Partner budgets and agreements prior to approvals.

    Requirements, Experiene and Skills
    Essential:

    • Degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field, individual with practical experience may be considered. 
    • Minimum of 2 years post-NYSC experience within finance & sub-award unit preferably with international organizations.
    • Relevant experience in assessment and remote monitoring of partners.
    • Knowledge about core elements of financial compliance and accountability standards.
    • Familiarity with humanitarian assistance and long-term development work in order to communicate effectively with partners.
    • Knowledge of finance and operational controls in regards to cash transfer programming.
    • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English.

    Desirable:

    • Has previous working experience working in Humanitarian response.

    Adolescent, Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) Coordinator

    Role Purpose

    • Save the Children is seeking an Adolescent, Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) coordinator who will provide leadership in the implementation, coordination and monitoring of all ASRH interventions and activities under the REACH project in Zamfara State.
    • The REACH project aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health of adolescent girls and boys in hard to reach communities in Zamfara State.
    • S/he will focus on the improvement of quality of sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents including young mothers/parents at the community and facility-levels to receive the knowledge, skills and services they need to delay early childbearing and/or care for a healthy pregnancy, care during birth and postpartum period, practicing healthy timing, spacing of subsequent pregnancies and being informed of available modern contraceptive methods.
    • The ASRH coordinator will work under the direction of the ASRH Advisor, provide oversight to local implementing partners, and also work closely with the field offices team, as well as the project director at the country office in Abuja,

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Programme development and implementation:

    • With the direction of relevant thematic leads, s/he will support the development of concept notes, work plans, budgets and other related activities of REACH within the programme in liaison with the project Director
    • Ensure all ASRH plans and activities in the states are properly coordinated with the local implementing partners, and within the SCI management & operation systems
    • Lead and coordinate the implementation of ASRH activities in the states in close collaboration with the implementing patners and Gender Equality Advisor
    • Ensure conduct of quality trainings on ASRH to target health providers and partners towards improving the quality of health facility services to adolescents (Use of the Age & Life-stage Counselling Tools, Youth-Friendly Health Services, Interpersonal Communication Skills, Organizing Young Mothers’ Support groups, others). It is envisioned that this will include developing and/ or adapting training materials and tools as necessary.
    • Work with the local partners to Implement the Mothers’ support group series of activities of the Adolescent First-time mothers/parents intervention
    • Work closely with the ASRH and Gender Equality Advisors to ensure that gender transformative approaches are implemented and that gender equality is mainstreamed throughout all activities and interventions
    • Emphasize the importance of normative change at implementation level in order to achieve project outcomes
    • In collaboration with the REACH Country office team, ensure that quality quarterly reports and other documentation of ASRH interventions and activities are written in a timely manner and submitted to the Project dorector for vetting.
    • Work with the business development team and RH technical advisors, where applicable to make technical contributions to proposals which have an ARSH component and ensure high quality narratives for submission.

    Advocacy and Coordination:

    • S/he will coordinate ASRH networking, and in close collaboration with community engagement and advocacy coordinator, work towards strengthening linkages/coordinating with relevant stakeholders and government agencies (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Youth and Development at state level, SPHCDA as well as other NGOs implementing ASRH activities), mobilizing partners and stakeholders in the establishment of technical working groups for ASRH in the State.

    Experience and Skills
    Essential:

    • A first degree in Medicine or Nursing
    • A Master’s degree in public health or Global health with specialty in  Adolesent Reproductive Health
    • 3-5 years of working experience in ASRH (specifically normative change and understanding adolescent behaviors) and family planning  in developing countries
    • Strong understanding of gender equality principles
    • Experience in monitoring programs and participating in evaluation
    • Knowledge of the primary health care system with in depth familiarity and knowledge about ASRH  activities in the state.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting with minimal supervision
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Fluency in English

    Desirable:

    • Fluency in Hausa will be an added advantage
    • Programming experience in the North of Nigeria
    • Experience in implementing gender-transformative approaches to health.
