    Officer, Legal Services (Property & Litigation)

    Job Summary

    • Assist in the preparation of assignments, leases,licences and related documents covering EMTS's properties/sites

    Principal Functions

    • Participatein conducting searches on land which EMTS proposes to lease or buy.
    • Assist inpreparing and conducting first-level vetting on all leases, licenses and relateddocuments covering EMTS's property, particularly base station sites. Renewdocuments in advance of expiry dates as required.
    • Assist inpreparing and drafting property titles and site acquisition documentation asrequired.
    • Ensureappropriate filing and safe custody of all property related documents.
    • Collate andprepare appropriate daily, weekly and monthly activity and performance reportsfor the attention of the Head, Legal Operations & Litigation
    • Participatein conducting searches on commercial properties which EMTS proposes to lease orbuy.
    • Assist inpreparing and conducting first-level vetting on all leases, licenses andrelated documents covering EMTS's commercial properties and renew documents inadvance of expiry dates as required.
    • Assist inpreparing and drafting commercial property title documentation as required.
    • Ensureappropriate filing and safe custody of all commercial property relateddocuments.
    • Collate andprepare appropriate daily, weekly and monthly activity and performance reportsfor the attention of the Manager, Legal Services(HQ)
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, LegalServices(HQ)

    Educational Requirements

    • First degree in Law.
    • One year post NYSC work experience.

    Manager, Compliance

    Job Summary

    • Provide relevant input to developing and implementinga regulatory compliance framework for EMTS.

    Principal Functions
    Tactical:

    • Assist in articulating EMTS's regulatory compliance policy and indriving organisation-wide adherence.

    Operational:

    • Advise on andmonitor compliance with conditions of the Unified Service Access Licence(UASL), 3G Licence, and Nigerian Communications Act, 2003 and other applicablelegislation and regulations made thereunder
    • Develop and update EMTS' compliance matrix to ensure thatcompliance roles, responsibilities and timelines are adequately communicated tothe business.
    • Develop processes to support the compliance with regulatoryobligations as may be required from time to time.
    • Escalate all potential and known regulatory violations to theHead, Regulatory Affairs.
    • Liaise with relevant units/functions in ensuring adherence toEMTS's compliance framework.
    • Provide support in filing reports and obtaining regulatoryapprovals for EMTS' tariffs, promotions and other approval requests that may berequired.
    • Assist in implementing the unit's work programs and plans in linewith agreed upon procedures and guidelines.
    • Assist in planning and managing the human and material resourcesof the unit to optimise performance, morale and enhance productivity.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to team members and managesubordinates' performance towards the achievement of overall team objectives.
    • Ensure an excellent relationship is built with mid and seniorlevel managers across all relevant regulatory agencies.
    • Ensure adequate training and development is delivered to teammembers on regulatory compliance issues.
    • Prepare/compile agreed periodic activity and performance reportsfor the attention of the Director, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs.
    • Perform any otherduties as assigned by the Director, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs.

    Educational Requirements

    • First Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
    • Postgraduate/professional qualification in a related field will bean added advantage.

    Experience,Skills & Competencies:

    • Six (6) to eight (8) years post NYSC work experience, with atleast three (3) years in a supervisory role.
    • Knowledge of Telecom sector and current trends in the Industry
    • Good Negotiation skills

    Specialist, Legal Services (Contract & Advisory)

    Job Summary

    • Assist in drafting and interpreting contractual agreementsand ensure that all contracts entered into by EMTS are consistent withcorporate and governmental laws, rules and regulations.

    Principal Functions

    • Assist the Manager, Legal Services (ContractsAdvisory) in providing legal advice to assigned departments and divisions onlegal issues arising from contracts.
    • Draft contracts and legal agreements includingmemoranda of understanding (MoUs) or agreement (MoAs), letters of intent andother related documents.
    • Research and proffer opinion on any legal inquiries orissues of a contractual nature arising out of the interpretation andapplication of contracts and agreements.
    • Assist in ensuring that terms and conditions set outin contractual documentation are legally valid, consistent with EMTS'spolicies, rules and regulations, and are in the organisation's best interest.
    • Participate in drafting and finalising tenderdocumentation.
    • Assist in litigation by or against contractors orother counterparties arising out of contracts, agreements, or similardocumentation.
    • Review documentation and ensure that contracts,agreements and tenders comply with agreed and approved conditions and makerecommendations to the Manager, Legal Services.
    • Monitor and respond to feedback from the respectiveEMTS departments as required.
    • Maintain a database of all contractual documents andrelated legal documentation.
    • Liaise with relevant units/teams/functions in carryingout all relevant activities.
    • Attend team/divisional/departmental meetings asrequired.
    • Prepare/compileagreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of theManager, Legal Services.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager,Legal Services.

    Educational Requirements

    • First degree in Law.
