    Policy Development Specialist

     The specialist will support the state government in the development of an Agricultural Policy document, which will strengthen and guide the operations of agricultural promotion and investment in the project state. This is a contract position based in Abuja, over a twelve (12) weeks period. The policy document must be completed within the specified consultancy time frame.

    As Policy Development Specialist you will:

    • Facilitate agricultural development through value chain approach
    • Enhance effectiveness of the sector by strengthening agricultural research, innovation, and extension
    • Prioritize infrastructure development in the agricultural sector
    • Promote agricultural mechanization and target research to develop appropriate machinery
    • Promote state opportunities for private sector investment in agriculture
    • Foster inclusion of youth, women and other vulnerable groups in agricultural sector with emphasis on employment generation and poverty reduction
    • Enhance inter-governmental collaboration in policy planning and implementation
    • Ensure inclusive and equitable management of agricultural resources
    • Provide technical support to partners and facilitate development of policy document
    • Propose strategy and guidance for policy formulation and all other activities
    • Liaise with relevant stakeholders and project partners to gather necessary background information
    • Jointly review completed policy document with assembled team before submission to state government
    • Any other tasks that may be assigned

    You will have:​

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
    • At least 3 years of work experience conducting similar assignment
    • Knowledge of government systems and policy development processes
    • Ability to develop well written, cohesive analyses and reports
    • Stakeholder engagement experience
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Excellent communication, analytical and policy strategy skills
    • Ability to travel (40% travel involved)

    Research Coordinator

     The Research Coordinator will oversee all research and reports being produced internally and externally for our work with partners and stakeholders. S/he will work on several research projects, including impact evaluation projects involving market survey data collection and analysis. The candidate should be well organized, able to prioritize, have a strong attention to detail and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. This position will span three months.

    As Research Coordinator you will:

    • Contribute to the development of concepts, methodologies, guidelines, and indicators for agriculture value chain systems
    • Perform on-site analysis, using both quantitative and qualitative methods
    • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive research approach
    • Liaise with and collect documents, resources, and reference materials from various stakeholders and beneficiaries, including government agencies
    • Organize conferences, seminars, workshops and other events on agricultural research
    • Prepare data visualization models in the form of tables and graphs for reports
    • Provide brief, written updates on a regular basis, and assist with drafting regular reports on a broad range of research topics
    • Support the development of two agricultural policy documents for selected project states aimed at increasing land, water, mechanization and alternative energy infrastructure
    • Any other tasks that may be assigned

    You will have:

    • A bachelor's degree in relevant fields
    • Fluency in English
    • Proven ability to manage data through entries, queries, quality control, and correction of a database
    • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
    • Strong quantitative and qualitative skills
    • Ability to develop well written, cohesive analyses and reports
    • Excellent communication, analytical and strategy skills
    • Strong and demonstrable project management and reporting skills
    • Ability to anticipate demand, manage multiple tasks/ projects and meet tight deadlines
    • Proven team player with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
    • Experience with relevant software packages, including Microsoft Excel
    • This position requires 40% travel
    • This position is only open to candidates with Nigerian work eligibility
