    WASH - Service Support - (Community Worker)

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, guidelines, procedures and SOP’s
    • Conduct hygiene promotion campaign through door to door and focused group discussion methods within the IDP host  community
    • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
    • Promote and share ideas for improvement
    • Perform according to NRC’s programme strategy, work and development plan within the IDP host community
    • Advocate and train community leaders on community hygiene
    • Working closely with water point committees in promoting WASH activities
    • Involve and inform communities and community leaders about hygiene promotion activities
    • Conduct hygiene promotion campaign through door to door and focused group discussion method
    • Assist in the distribution of relevant IEC materials for hygiene promotion within the community.
    • Ensure that NRC’s activities are conducted in line with best practice, guided by and effectively abide by the humanitarian principles
    • Performs any other duty as requested by NRC Wash Officer

    Qualifications

    • Diploma in public/environmental health, social science, communication or other relevant educational background combined with relevant professional experience
    • Experience from working with hygiene promotion/communities mobilization projects in a humanitarian/recovery context.
    • Experience from working with social work and/or with distribution of humanitarian assistance is an advantage
    • Knowledge of health problems related to sanitation in emergency situation and appropriate prevention strategies
    • Understanding of cultural beliefs and practices
    • Knowledge of hygiene promotion methods targeted at adults and children.
    • Understanding of basic health messages and their limitations.
    • Knowledge of Hygiene promotion messages among children, adult and people of old age
    • Knowledge of beneficiary selection for NFI in humanitarian context (vulnerable groups within the affected area).
    • Knowledge of appropriate use of IEC materials in promoting hygiene within the community
    •  Communication and mobilization skills
    • Basic communication skills – written and spoken – in English required.
    • Fluency in one or more of the national/regional languages (Hausa, Kanuri and Fulani preferred)

    Technical Assistant - Centre for Monitoring and Communication

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, guidelines and procedures
    • Conduct daily CMC activities whilst adhering to NRC’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Assist with the implementation of the support function according to SOPs
    • Ensure proper collation and storage of Information
    • Complete status reports and maintain databases as required within the CMC
    • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
    • Facilitate efficient communications and information flow for all field teams.
    • Log all communications and dispatch them without delay.
    • Keep all necessary messages sent/received by NRC communications systems strictly confidential.
    • Ensure that all NRC CMC users comply with proper communications procedures
    • Advise CMC Team Leader immediately of faults in the telecommunication networks / communications equipment and undertake all necessary action to provide a prompt reestablishment of service.
    • Monitor open source channels (TV, radio, social media, etc) collate and store relevant information and update the Team Leader and Security Officer accordingly.
    • Receive Staff Feedback Forms and collate information for daily follow up by Team Leader
    • Carry out any other duties as delegated by the supervisor and Management

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Prepare day to day financial transactions
    • Verify post backs for Agresso import
    • Establish a good system of advances management
    • Management of bank and cash transactions
    • Facilitate cash counts and safeguard of cash in the office.
    • Facilitate audit activities

    Qualifications

    • Relevant university degree, or other relevant educational background combined with relevant professional experience.
    • Experience of working in a Communications Centre / Radio Room in a humanitarian context
    • Knowledge of VHF / HF Radio Protocols and Procedures
    • Previous experience of working in complex and volatile contexts
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
    • Knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri languages (minimum)
    • High-level competency in computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)
    • Contextual knowledge of north east Nigeria (Borno State) preferred.
    • Experience with start-up Monitoring and Communications projects

    Service Support - Cook/Cleaner

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
    • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
    • Promote and share ideas for improvement
    • Perform according to the work and development plan
    • Report snags to Admin Officer and follow up until repaired
    • Tidy, dust, empty and wash out bins in designated offices/guesthouses and rooms.
    • Clean washrooms and any other assigned facilities.
    • Wash kitchen utensils and provide laundry services for the guesthouses occupants
    • Keep a check on cleaning materials/items, office/guesthouse supplies and re-order via the Admin Officer.
    • Lock and ensure items in assigned work areas and building are secure.
    • Prepare meals/teas for guesthouse guesthouses
    • Prepare teas and other complementary bites for staff meetings and visitors
    • Undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • •Minimum 1 years’ experience from working as a Cleaner or Cook
    • Documented and traceable references
    • Basic understanding of verbal and written English

    Technical Officer - Data Management

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
    • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
    • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
    • Ensure proper filing of documents
    • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Responsible for answering the NRC complaints and feedback telephone and respond in line with agreed standards
    • Responsible for maintaining NRC complaints and feedback register for the Area Office
    • Responsible for emptying and register NRC suggestion boxes in Maiduguri Metro
    • Responsible for collecting field offices weekly reports and enter these into NRC Area Office complaints and feedback register
    • Responsible for maintaining overview of feedback given and complaints followed up on.
    • Design tools for data collection
    • Analyse data from different core competencies and present reports to Programme Development Managers and other stakeholders
    • Managing data collection staff (enumerators)
    • Developing and implementing programme databases

    Qualifications

    • At least 2 years’ experience in an international NGO preferably in an emergency or post-conflict setting, including M&E implementation
    • Thorough experience with and knowledge of principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation in relief and development programs, using both quantitative and qualitative methods
    • Understanding of data and information needs for program management and decision making
    • High level English language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing), Hausa and other regional languages is an asset
    • Analytic and computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
    • Experience using SPSS, STATA, Epi Info, or R
    • Documented experience from using data analysis tools, including excel
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
