    NJR Project Officer

    Key Roles
    Work closely with the Project Manager and project teams to:

    • Supports timely implementation of SC’s NJR project as per project proposal and in line with project budget and SC procedures (including those related to sourcing, management of project resources, fraud, child safeguarding)
    • In collaboration with the field team and other stakeholders, provide organizational support for the implementation of project activities as per project detailed implementation plan (DIP)
    • Support the planning and conduction of planned project trainings, other capacity building initiatives as well as other relevant meetings with project stakeholders (including support group meetings, awareness raising sessions etc.)
    • Ensure documentation of project activities across project sectors and throughout project cycle including through the aid of activity reports, DIP, trackers (including IPPT, output and activity tracker), planners (including MEAL Plans), risk matrix as well as procurement, assets management and warehousing tools.
    • Conduct other relevant duties assigned by the project manager

    Other Roles
    Planning, and Monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL): 

    • Review and update regularly with the support of the MEAL Officer and other relevant staff, the project’s DIP and other trackers (activity implementation tracker, procurement tracker etc.)
    • Support the documentation of planned project activities through quality activity reports with clear outcomes and next steps
    • Support for quality improvement, quality checks, reviews and timely feedback on reports submitted by local partner NGOs/CSOs and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Assist in project team’s travel planning as well as the requisition, sourcing and tracking of project inputs, and the planning, conduction and documentation of assessments conducted as part of the project
    • Identify opportunities and implementation of solutions to challenges identified through relevant assessments.
    • Maintain an updated directory of contacts of relevant project stakeholders, as well as set-up and maintain an archiving system for project documents

    Qualifications and Experience
    Essential:

    • 2-3 years of experience supporting the implementation of aid projects (preferably in an emergency context) especially those related to food security and livelihoods and nutrition.
    • Additional technical experience in project management highly preferred.
    • Education: At least Bachelor of Arts or Science in Applied Social Sciences
    • Proven abilities in developing and monitoring program implementation plans, and working collaboratively with community groups and partner organizations to successfully achieve project objectives
    • conduction of rapid assessments and awareness raising and support group meetings.
    • Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility; Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, willing, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
    • Proven ability contributing to influencing change at operational and strategic levels
    • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
    • Understanding of gender, protection and human rights
    • A high level of written and spoken English
    • Commitment to the aims and values of Save the Children (SC). In particular, a good understanding of the SC’s mandate and child-focus, and the ability to ensure this always underpins the support we provide.

    Desirable:

    • INGO experience preferred
    • Experience working with local government agencies and community structures, as well as in project planning and management, is an advantage experience
    • Previous experience working in North Eastern Region of Nigeria
