    Blood Bank/Laboratory Supervisor

    Main Purpose

    • Plan, organize and carry out laboratory and blood bank activities and train, guide and supervise the performance of the laboratory staff according to MSF protocols, security measures and hygiene standards, in order to support the MSF medical team in the diagnosis of patients’ diseases.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
    • Ensure blood bags are accounted for at all times and stored as per protocol
    • Ensure the compliance of MSF hygiene and safety protocols, both individually and collectively as well as informing staff of existing biological risks.
    • Ensure, in cooperation with logistics department, that cold chain is properly maintained in Laboratory/Blood Bank areas for both, samples and reagents
    • Perform training for all nurses/midwives on the procedure of blood transfusions as per protocol.
    • Produce regular reports on the testing and any issues / problems related to laboratory personnel and / or the material used.

    Required Skills and Conditions

    • Degree in Laboratory Technician
    • Essential 2 years experience in a laboratory, preferably as a Lab Tech.
    • Desirable in MSF or another NGO, desirable in a clinical laboratory.
    • Communication skills with people from broadly diverse backgrounds.
    • Fluent in spoken and written English and Hausa
    • Flexibility in tasks and working hours.

    Work Location

    • Jigawa State (Nigeria).

    Contract

    • 208 working hours per month.

    Remuneration

    Monthly Gross salary of N213, 231. (Two hundred thirteen thousand two hundred and thirty one naira only)
