    State Coordinator

    Project Overview and Role
    V4C Will Achieve This By
    Voices for Change (V4C) is a recently designed, UK Aid funded, four year programme running from October 2013 to December 2017. The goal of V4C is to help transform social attitudes towards girls and women in Nigeria by working on specific individual, social and institutional changes. V4C will do this by operating at Federal level and in four States (Kano, Kaduna, Lagos, and Enugu). V4C.s Vision is to be known and recognised for creating new ways to change behaviour, contributing to a Nigeria where every girl, boy, woman and man achieves their full potential. V4C.s Mission is to inspire a generation of new voices to speak up and speak out to empower young women to achieve their real potential.

    Responsibilities
    Key Responsibilities
    Create momentum at state level for implementation of V4C initiatives, including:

    • Responsible for kick starting Kano State Purple movement for change, mobilizing partners to take action promoting 50-50 as a call for change in the state.
    • Identify and work alongside religious and traditional leaders, government representatives, men?s networks and other key state influencers to events, keeping them up-dated on Purple progress, gaining their support and inspiring them to amplify messages that are in line with V4C initiatives.
    • Coordinate technical input and guidance to partners
    • Coordinating state programme meetings to plan, monitor, and review program success
    • Linking up partners to share successes, lessons, and strategies to overcome barriers.
    • Overseeing the delivery of work plans outlined in the V4C / partner sub agreement, including quality and pace of delivery.
    • Overseeing implementation at state level to ensure alignment with V4C goals and objectives
    • Support the Output 1 ? AGW Life Skills Lead in effectively leading on activities within communities and post-secondary institutions including;
    • Support institutionalization within relevant state institutions
    • Coordinating implementation of fusion model of Purple Academy at State level, ensuring results are being monitored effectively
    • Ensure facilitators and ambassadors in and out of school are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to pilot creative activities to promote Purple Academy
    • Create State Level Saturation Of Consistent Messages That Are Appropriate To The State Context With The Aim Of Influencing The Attitudes Of V4Cs Target Audiences (AGW, Men And Boys, Key Influencers, Implementation Partners), Including
    • Collaborating with the V4C Communications team and Key Influencers Lead to ensure that physical and virtual messages ?speak to? V4C target audiences in Kano State
    • Ensuring linkages are made between young people and communication channels (e.g., radio stations).
    • Ensuring young people?s interests in Kano State are fed into Output level planning and quality delivery
    • Supporting state level lobbying by young people and influencers
    • Participate in, and support development of campaign activities that promote the V4C brand in Kano.
    • Ensure that V4C has the information required to monitor and measure the success of initiatives, including
    • Supporting implementing partners to document and report monthly / quarterly on progress, success, barriers and learning for submission to diaries for safe space work.
    • Communicating regularly with output leads with programme updates and general state security that affects programming, to develop weekly and monthly plans and progress reports.
    • Following up with relevant programme staff to ensure monitoring templates have been completed and data entered into the system.
    • Continuously Improve Coordination And Implementation Of State Level Initiatives By Networking Formally And Informally With Other State Coordinators, Including
    • Participating in quarterly review meetings to formally review progress and share cross-state lessons and problems, and work together to generate potential solutions.
    • Liaising on a day-to-day basis to create a strong team for on-going peer support.
    • Identify And Build On Synergies And Overlaps With Other DFID Program By Liaising With Other Program Partners, Including
    • Sharing V4C lessons and innovations with other development partners.
    • Creating linkages with partners seeking to complement / amplify V4C?s work (e.g., coordinating activities on violence against women).
    • Liaising with other DFID programme managers to identify overlaps / inconsistencies with V4C initiatives (e.g., Girl hub?s work with girls).
    • Any other reasonable activities determined by the thematic leads and approved by the DTL PDE.

    Requirements
    Qualifications / Previous Experience:
    Minimum of a Masters degree in social sciences, humanities or any related discipline.
    Minimum of 5 years experience working inthe development sector especially on gender and research.

    Key Knowledge:

    • Excellent working knowledge of Nigerian culture.
    • Subject matter expert on social change programming, particularly gender equality issues, relationships and violence towards AGW, men and boys work.
    • Knowledge of AGW life style.
    • Knowledge of key influencers in affecting a change in attitudes towards AGW.
    • Knowledge of how to access relevant communication channels (e.g., radio stations).
    • Understanding of physical and virtual safe spaces.
    • Knowledge of other DFID progammes, donor funded safe space programs, civil societies in safe space work within the state and other programmme partners
    • Understanding of how to access government representatives, religious leaders and other key state influencers.
    • Fluent in the local language of the state.

    The content producer will be responsible for ideating, planning, writing and publishing high quality written content for the Purple website, an online community dedicated to changing gender based social norms in Nigeria. The website does this by providing content and features encouraging young people to reflect, discuss, learn about, get inspiration and take action on the topic of gender equality. The program, and therefore the website?s content, focuses particularly on the 3 pillars of VAWG, women in leadership and women in decision making.

    Responsibilities
    Key Responsibilities

    • Working collaboratively with the head of content, head of programme design, and social media teams to produce timely content plans which align with social media plans
    • Research and write content according to your content schedule to a high standard, following editorial guidelines & processes
    • Work closely with expert advisors where applicable to ensure publication of accurate and reliable content
    • Stay up to date with key trends and leverage them when coming up with content
    • Support with copy writing for promotional campaigns
    • Publish content on your site using an online Content Management System
    • Work with community manager to review how users are reacting to and engaging with your content to inform how to improve
    • Manage quality, test published content and fix typos, broken links
    • Contribute to improvement of Content Management System in collaboration with E1M User Experience Designer & developers

    • maintain consistent formatting & content discovery standards which make content easy and enjoyable to read even on a small screen
    • Adding more depth to the way we cover issues, getting to the bottom of the issues and coming up with original ways to engage users with them. This should include proactively working with expert partners.
    • Develop a sustainable system to involve members of the target audience (Young people aged 16-25) in the ideation and creation of content, including crowdsourcing ideas and content (for example articles, videos or opinion pieces) or increasing the number of user polls on the site.

    Requirements
    Qualifications / Previous Experience:
    A graduate degree in social sciences (or any other relevant discipline)
    Experience working in the field of development or communications.

The community manager will also be responsible for posting and moderating social media content on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

    • Work with content producers and the Project Manager to plan and commission the weekly content schedule for the site, including social media.
    • Liaise with expert advisors to ensure the production of quality, reliable content & features on key issues
    • Work with client managers to ensure site development and growth is aligned with programme targets, strategize and plan new features & campaigns
    • Edit & sign off on content produced for the site, with a focus on feedback and improvement
    • Review & analyse the ?User Generated Content? in order to understand how users are engaging with the site and its topics
    • Provide quality assurance for the site, including testing across a range of devices, collecting, collating and presenting user feedback for discussion in weekly community development meetings.
    • Liaise with the Every1Mobile technical and user experience teams to report bugs, discuss improvements, and contribute to design briefs to create new features
    • Review and analyse traffic & engagement stats, presenting these to the rest of the team on a monthly basis
