    Laboratory Scientist (Male)

     

     Job summary:
    The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for performing laboratory tests that provide physicians with information that assists them in preventing, diagnosing and treating diseases and maintaining patient wellness.
     
    Key tasks and responsibilities

    • Perform tasks, duties and/or complex tests in all areas of the laboratory assigned (hematology, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry) according to established laboratory protocols and procedures.
    • Process specimens utilizing protocols and technical knowledge
    • Calibrate, standardize and maintain instruments following established procedures.
    • Perform quality control, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting protocols to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents and procedures
    • Validates and reports results of tests performed.
    • Delivers patients reports according to times indicated in policy and collection manual.
    • Researches and develops new procedures as required.

    Qualifications

    • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS)
    • Candidate must be registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
    • Candidate must possess current practicing license.
    • Should be able to perform hematological, chemical pathological and microbiological analysis

    Years of experience
    At least 5 years post qualification

    Nurse

     

    The Role:
    The selected candidate will be responsible for the delivery of basic nursing care to patients. Supported by a senior nurse within the practice, she will deliver care within the boundaries of her role, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, disease prevention and screening activities. She will work collaboratively with the rest of the practice team to meet the needs of patients.
     
    Duties and responsibilities

    • Work with the rest of the medical team to assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate programmes to promote health and well-being of patients.
    • Assist physicians in the delivery of high quality patient care.
    • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote patients to live healthy and encourage principles of self-care.
    • Implement and participate in vaccination and immunization programmes for both adults and children.
    • Promote and deliver evidence-based care for patients
    • Work effectively with the team to clearly define values, direction and policies impacting upon care delivery
    • Participate in team activities that create opportunities to improve patient care

    Qualifications and experience

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. (Additional qualification in Mid-wifery, Public Health, Administration or any other relevant additional degree would be an advantage)
    • Minimum of 4 four years post NYSC/qualification experience covering different aspects of nursing, especially immunization and family planning.

    Key competencies and attributes

    • Good documentation ability to prepare high quality summaries and reports
    • Computer literate (previous experience in use of electronic medical record system would be an asset)
    • Diligent and hardworking
    • Detail oriented and ability to multitask
    • Good verbal and written communication skills

    Senior Medical Officer

     

    The Role:
    A hands on professional who sees herself as counselor and friend to the patients. She will provide primary contact and continuous care toward the management of patients’ health and will be expected to assess and treat a wide range of conditions, ailments and injuries. She will report directly to the Medical Director.
     
    Duties and responsibilities

    • Diagnose illnesses, prescribe and administer treatment for people suffering from a wide spectrum of diseases and minor injuries (including referring to specialists as required).
    • Obtain medical histories, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
    • Provide competent patient-centered care that addresses health needs and promotes wellness.
    • Provide health education as required to promote wellness and adequate chronic disease management.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Candidate must possess MBBS with at least 5 years post NYSC experience covering different specialties. Post graduate degree in Family Medicine, Public Health, or any relevant additional degree would be an advantage
    • Candidate must possess current practicing license.

    Key competencies and attributes

    • Should have good clinical acumen (excellent history taking, physical examination, requesting appropriate investigations to arrive at accurate diagnoses)
    • proficiency in procedures like suturing, IV catheterization, urethral catheterization, ear syringing, cervical cytology, IUCD insertion and removal.
    • Should have good documentation abilities to prepare high quality summaries and reports
    • Conversant with technology (previous experience in use of electronic medical record system would be an asset)
    • Commitment to safety and quality of care and ability to thrive in an environment of continuous but logical and thoughtful change.
    • Good verbal communication skills.
    • Good team player with proven organizational and administrative skills
    • Female Between 35 – 40 years
    • Should be pleasant, patient and honest
