    Senior Database Officer MAPS

    The Senior Database Officer, under the supervision of the M&E Advisor, will be responsible for the coordination of the organizational database system in the MAPS supported states and the country office. S/he will work closely with consultants: the national DPRS and the NMCP offices and will supervise the state database officers' data collection, data processing and sharing of aggregate data with all level of government health administration. S/he will regularly perform routine tests and modifications to ensure the database approach incorporates the following principles: (i) data remains consistent across the database; (ii) data is clearly defined; (iii) users access data concurrentiy, in a form that suits their needs; (iv) there is provision for data security and recovery control (all data is retrievable in an emergency). 

    The senior database officer will be expected to spend 25% of his/her time in the FMOH DPRS, 25% at the National Malaria Control Program office and 50% at the MAPS office. 

    Travels to state officers to provide oversight may also be required. 

    Minimum Requirements

    • B.Sc. in Mathematics, Computer Science or other closely related discipline. with a minimum of 7-9 years relevant experience or MSc. in relevant field with 5-7 years' experience in Malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS control or related development area.
    •  Knowledge of DHIS2 is required; knowledge of Epi-Info. SPSS and any ROBMS is desirable. 
    • Proficiency in database platforms, programming languages, and other information technology such as but not limited to: Windows/NT, Oracle. and SunGuard SCT Banner. 
    • Experience in database security, performance tuning, and backup and recovery procedures is required Ability to work with the software development group and IS infrastructure to solve application issues andlor database issues. 
    • Previous supervisory experience is an advantage

    Database Officer (MAPS)

    The Database Officer, under the supervision of State Coordinator and the M&E directorate will be responsible for the day to day operations of data collection. data processing and sharing of aggregate data with all level of govemment health administration and NMCP. 

    S/He will be responsible for the planning. maintenance and development of organizational databases and ensure data integrity at the state DPRS and the SMCP offices. Sf He will be in charge of storing, organizing, presenting, using and analyzing data using existing and any new database management software, including setting up new computer databases or integrating data from old systems to new systems as well as regularly performing routine tests and modifications to ensure the database approach incorporates the following principles: (i) data remains consistent across the database; (ii) data is clearly defined: (iii) users access data concurrently, in a form that suits their needs; (iv) there is provislon for data security and recovery control (all data is retrievable in an emergency). 

    Other responsibilities include the design of new databases and creation of dashboards, products, charts, pivot reports, automated data output generation, reports and statistics. 

    Minimum Recruitment Standards: 

    • B.Sc. in Mathematics. Computer Science or closely related discipline with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience, or MSc in related field with a minimum 1-3 years' experience in Malaria. TB. HIV/AIDS control or related development area 
    • A post-graduate degree in a related Medical Statistics and Epidemiology discipline is an added advantage. 
    • Knowledge of Epi-Info, DHIS2, SPSS and any RDBMS is required.
