    Sanitation Team Leader

    Job Description

    The position of Sanitation Team Leader is based in Maiduguri and supports the sanitation project implemented in Maiduguri, Borno State.

    Under the direct supervision of the WatSan PM Assistant and indirectly the WASH Program Manager, the Sanitation Team Leader will be in charge of setting up all activities related to Sanitation including needs assessments, activities’ implementation and monitoring and project evaluation.

    More precisely, the Sanitation Team Leader will be responsible for latrine construction including purchase of the appropriate material to the coordination of the sanitation community mobilizers and sanitation foremen in order to ensure the quality of the implemented activities and provide technical support for all sanitation related issues. He/she will ensure that SI’s technical recommendations and procedures are followed.

    List of principal activities

    1. Setting up the activities /control and supervision 

    -       Plan the weekly activities for his/her team and have them approved by his/her Project Manager:

    ·         When recruiting daily workers, follow procedures and directives outlined by his/her Project manager and the administrative service
    ·         Train his/her team members to use and maintain the available tools correctly
    ·         Track usage with monitoring tools provided
    ·         Enforce safety procedures
    ·         Ensure that safety procedures are followed by members of his/her team
    ·         Monitor the quality and quantity of material delivered to working sites
    ·         Ensure the receipt and storage of material and equipment necessary for his/her work to be carried out on site

    Project manager:  Watsan Project Manager Assistant

    Line report(s) on base:  1 sanitation community mobilizer and 1 sanitation foreman

    Requirements :

    • Training: BSc in project management, management, water, hygiene and sanitation, civil engineering or any related field.
    • Languages: English, Haussa
    • Project related skills : good knowledge of the project cycle, project implementation, project follow-up
    • IT skills: Good knowledge of Office software : Excel, Word, Outlook
    • Knowledge of technical design software is a plus
    • Professional experience: 2 year of experience in similar position (NGO/Private or Public sector)
    • Personal qualities: reliable, honest, very good organization, resistance to stress, good interpersonal skills (communication), team player.

    Program Manager Assistant

    Job description :

    The Program Manager Assistant is in charge of supporting the Program Manager towards the good implementation, achievement, and reporting of the objectives defined in the proposals.

    He/she guarantees the proper coordination mechanisms are in place inside the operational teams (water supply, water quality, sanitation, public health, food security & livelihood, and AME departments), in Borno State, and in cooperation with the Program Manager.

    Main tasks :

    Project relevance, quality and design

    • Contribute to establishing operational assessments & evaluations activities ;
    • Contribute to define SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL’s local strategy ;
    • Responsible to propose and guarantee quality approach mechanisms are in place ;
    • Support the writing of technical annexes and chapters (including the logical framework) for the proposals ;
    • Participate in building the teams’ abilities with respect to techniques or new methodologies.   

    Implementation and operational monitoring

    • Support the project Team Leaders in planning their operational activities;
    • Meet the deadlines and adhere to predefined quality specifications;
    • Support the Program Manager in ensuring the project management, monitoring, and evaluation tools are in place in each operational department;
    • Suggest any adjustments to be made to the activity depending on contextual and indicator developments;.

    Institutional Knowledge Building - IKB

    • Use the IKB tools proposed by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL;
    • Participate in the centralization, validation, and distribution of procedures, guidelines and tools linked to the AME activities;
    • Ensure that project files are complete, regularly updated, and saved on the mission external hard drive.

    Personnel management

    • In charge of managing the Wash, Cash and Food Security teams in Borno State;
    • Greet and brief the new staff working on the program;
    • In collaboration with the Program Manager, set up technical trainings depending on operational needs and  identified training requirements;
    • Evaluate and assess the performance of colleagues under his / her direct supervision on a regular basis. 

    Reporting / communication / representation

    • Pass upward to the Program Manager / Coordination team any information on the security situation or on any event that could impact SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL activities and the safety of the teams;
    • Support the drafting of activity reports & amendments (including any annexes relating to specific activities) for the financial donors, local authorities, and for internal purposes (weekly & monthly reports) by compiling all the operational data before sending them to the Program Manager.

    Cash and Nutrition Team Leader

    Job Description

    The position of Cash and Nutrition Team Leader is based in Maiduguri and supports the cash-based and nutrition project implemented in Muna Garage neighbourhood, Maiduguri, Borno State.

    Under the supervision of the CASH and Nutrition Program Manager, the CASH and Nutrition Team Leader will be in charge of setting up all activities related to CASH and Nutrition including needs assessments, activities’ implementation and monitoring and project evaluation. More precisely, the CASH and Nutrition Team Leader will be responsible of beneficiaries’ identification, cash transfers activities, malnutrition screening and referrals aiming at improving food security and nutrition issues.

    He/She should also coordinate the community mobilizers’ team in order to ensure the quality of the implemented activities and provide technical support for all beneficiary identification, cash transfers and nutrition related issues. He/she will ensure that SI’s technical recommendations and procedures are followed.

    List of principal activities:

    1. Setting up the activities /control and supervision

    • Plan human resources needs (daily workers, workers...)
    • plan tool and material needs (request from stock)
    • anticipate administrative issues (requests in advance)
    • Anticipate logistics issues (transport, communication means...)

    • Supervise and monitor each stage of activity. Ensure that standards and instructions given by his/her Project Manager, as well as Solidarités procedures, are followed
    • Respect schedules and deadlines agreed upon with his/her Project Manager
    • Report back any problems and constraints encountered during the course of the activities and suggest operational solutions

    2. Logistics and Administration

    • When recruiting daily workers, follow procedures and directives outlined by his/her Project manager and the administrative service
    • Train his/her team members to use and maintain the available tools correctly
    • Track usage with monitoring tools provided

    • Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarités office, accessible to his/her Team Leader and/or project manager
    • Draw up and submit a weekly task report (which should include progress made by the team) to his/her project manager
    • Take part in the drafting of the monthly program pack
    • Establish and maintain good relations with local participants and communities (populations) in the operational fields
    • Listen to the populations and local participants in the field and report to his/her project manager any non-technical or safety-related issues which could affect the activities or safety of Solidarités International teams
