    COUNTDOWN Research Manager

    Job Description
    The COUNTDOWN Research Manager will be responsible for the technical oversight, management and implementation of the COUNTDOWN research project in Nigeria for the period 2016- 2020. Other responsibilities include leading and working in close collaboration with partners, on the design, quality assurance of the research conducted, analysis, dissemination and uptake of research findings.

    Description of Post/Responsibilities

    • Responsible for quality assurance of research conducted in Nigeria under the COUNTDOWN research project.
    • Lead on the design of research studies (in collaboration LSTM) to ensure they are conducted with methodological rigors and are relevant for the context and need
    • Lead on the implementation of research activities in Kaduna state and work with the research officer for Ogun state activities.
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with the Ministries of Health and other partners towards attaining the objectives of the COUNTDOWN project in Nigeria
    • Lead on supporting the development of systems/framework for monitoring and evaluating the performance of the COUNTDOWN project
    • Ensure that partners manage and utilize project assets in line with guidelines for the COUNTDOWN project.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Post graduate Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biological Sciences, Social Sciences or related disciplines. Significant experience implementing research studies, ideally using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies
    • Minimum of five years of programme/ project management, ideally in a research setting/environment
    • Technical knowledge of one or more of the five PCT NTDs.
    • A demonstrated record of accomplishment in research in public health programmes, including the
    • Publication of papers in peer-review
    • Knowledge of ethical standards and procedures for conducting research
    • Excellent analytical skills, including experience using appropriate analytical software e.g NVivo, STATA, SPSS

    COUNTDOWN Research Analysts (Evidence Synthesis, Social Scientist, Health Economics)

    Job Description
    The research analysts will work with the Research Manager and other research team members to successfully drive the direction and delivery of the COUNTDOWN project vis a viz the MSTI, MST2 and MST3 in line with national policies and elimination goals in Nigeria.

    Description of Post/Responsibilities

    • Responsible for quality assurance of research conducted in Nigeria under the COUNTDOWN research project in Ogun and Kaduna Stales.
    • Support on the design of research studies (in collaboration LSTM) to ensure they are conducted with methodological rigour and are relevant for the context and need
    • Ensure relevant ethical standards and approvals are followed in all research implemented in Kaduna and Ogun States.
    • Support to COUNTDOWN research teams and help them to identify operational research opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of NTD elimination efforts.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biological Sciences, Social Sciences, Health Economics or related disciplines, or post graduate Degree with at least five years’ experience in research as relevant to the positions.
    • Significant experience implementing research studies, ideally using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies
    • Technical knowledge of one or more of the five PCT NTDs.
    • A demonstrated record of accomplishment in research in public health programmes, including the publication of papers in peer-review journals and presentation at academic conferences
    • Understanding of various research methodologies
    • Knowledge of ethical standards and procedures for conducting research

    COUNTDOWN Research Officer

    Job Description
    The Research Officer will be responsible for managing the daily and implementation of the research activities of the COUNTDOWN in Ogun State for the period of 2016-2020.

    Description of Post/Responsibilities

    • Responsible for quality assurance of research conducted in Ogun State under the COUNTDOWN research project.
    • Facilitate obtaining relevant ethical approvals in Ogun State and ensure ethical standards are followed in all research implemented.
    • Responsible for data collection to a high qtiality (quantitative and qualitative data), as per the study work plan
    • Responsible for recordkeeping of research data collected (soft and hard copies) and ensure all information is kept secure and as per agreed procedures (as outlined in ethical protocol)
    • Participate and Support the development of systems for monitoring and evaluating the performance of the COUNTDOWN project in Ogun State.
    • Monitors and supervises the progress of the research in the state using appropriate tools
    • Represent COUNTDOWN project at appropriate Forums in Ogun State.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Degree in relevant field (Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology or similar)
    • Experience in implementing research studies using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies
    • Minimum of three years of programme/ project management, ideally in a research setting/environment
    • Technical knowledge of one or more of the five Preventive Chemotherapy Treatments (PCT) NTDs
    • Experience of monitoring and evaluation
    • Excellent communication skill

    COUNTDOWN Finance and Administrative Officer

    Job Description
    The Finance officer is responsible for maintaining of the financial record keeping and reporting system, assist in the day to day operations and also assist with the maintenance of organisational polices and procedure.

    Description of Post/Responsibilities

    • Handle day to day financial transactions in compliance with local regulations and adhering to the organizational Financial Framework with specific respect to implementation of: financial management and controls; financial planning and budgeting; financial monitoring and audits: monitoring and retaining accurate financial records.
    • Provide support to the country office through managing logistics of procurement of supplies, delivering or overseeing administrative functions i.e. payroll and ensuring IT equipment functions effectively all in line with organizational policies and procedures.
    • Work collaboratively with programme teams to support and strengthen the financial management, accountability and capacity building of partners.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Relevant professional accounting qualification or degree in Finance/Accounting
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience ideally in an INGO environment but experience of audit and government organizations would also be advantageous
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial management, programme/project management and administration
    • Project financial management, budget and data analysis skills
