  • ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) is one of ActionAid Country Programmes. ActionAid is an International Non-Governmental organisation registered in The Netherlands and headquartered in Johannesburg South Africa. ActionAid International works in 50 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and the Americas. 22 of these country programmes, affiliates or associates are in Africa and are led by Africans. We have been doing development work on the continent since 1972 and in Nigeria since 1999. ActionAid works with the poor and excluded in Africa, promoting values and commitment in civil society, institutions and governments with the aim of achieving structural changes in order to eradicate injustices and poverty in the world.

    To effectively remain proactive and consolidate on the country strategy, AAN is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the following position:

    Interns, (4 POSITIONS) Abuja

    Eligibility
    • Fresh graduates without post NYSC experience
    • Candidates with experience in other sectors who desire development sector experience will also be considered.
    • Candidate. must not be above 30 years of age.

    Duration
    One year fixed/term non renewable contract.

    Person Specifications
    Education/Qualifications
    • Degree in.any field of study is essential.

    Experience
    • Completion of NYSC is essential

    Skill/Abilities:
    • Strong communication & writing skills is essential
    • Good computer skills is essential
    • Ability to travel on short notice is essential
    • Ability to adapt to changing job descriptions, deliver on given targets and willingness to learn are essential

    Personal Qualities
    • A person of integrity who is able to work in a diverse team environment.

    Programme Officer, Quality Education and Improved School Governance Project (Abuja)

    Person Specifications/Education/Qualifications
    • Degree in Social Sciences, Arts or Humanities is essential.

    Experience
    • Five years post NYSC experience is essential
    • Two years experience in a similar position in the development sector is essential
    • Experience, working in an education project especially in northern Nigeria is desirable

    Skill/Abilities
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Ability to implement data management systems
    • Strong communication & writing skills is essential
    • Computer-skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft office is essential'
    • Good negotiation & multitasking skills is desirable
    • Ability to speak Hausa language is desirable

    Personal Qualities
    • Demonstrable leadership qualities are essential

    ENHANCING NIGERIA'S RESPONSE TO HIV/AIDS (ENR) POLICY,
    Advocacy & Gender Technical Advisor (Ogun)


    Duration
    One year six months fixed term non renewable contract.

    Education/Qualifications
    • Degree in Social Sciences, Arts or Humanities is essential.
    • Post graduate degree in a relevant field is desirable.

    Experience
    • A minimum of 7 years working experience preferably in the social development field is essential
    •A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position is essential
    • Experience in working to influence the Nigerian policy environment as it relates with Gender & HIV/AIDS is essential
    • Experience in HIV Prevention and Gender mainstreaming is desirable

    Skill/Abilities
    Excellent computer application skills is essential
    Excellent oral and written communication skills is essential
    Excellent conceptual, analytical, documentation and presentation
    skills is essential
    Excellent Skills in policy analysis and interpretation is essential

    Capacity Building Technical Advisor (Benue)


    Duration
    One year six months fixed term non renewable contract.

    Education/Qualifications
    • Degree in Social Sciences, Arts or Humanities is essential.
    • Post graduate degree in a relevant field is desirable.

    Experience
    • A minimum of 7 years working experience preferably in the social development field is essential.
    • A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position is essential
    • Experience in working with HIV/AIDS related Civil Society Organisation in the area of capacity building and prevention is essential

    Skill/Abilities
    • Demonstrable computer application skill is essential
    • Excellent presentation & facilitation skill is essential
    • Excellent conceptual, analytical and documentation skills are essential

    • Ability to creatively take initiative.

    Female Driver (Abuja)

    Education/Qualifications
    • GCE '0' level with minimum of 4 credits is essential

    Experience
    • A minimum of 3 years working experience preferably with an NGO is essential.

    Skill/Ability
    • Demonstrable computer skills is essential
    • Good knowledge of FRSC rules and guidelines is essential

    Personal Qualities
    • Creative and takes initiative.
    • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
    • Willing and able to travel extensively
