    State Coordinator

    Project Description:
    Malaria Action Program for States (MAPS) is one of the projects under FHI 360. MAPS focuses on supporting the development of infrastructure, resources, systems, and the technical and management capacities necessary for effective malaria control. The project is implemented by three partners and FHI 360 is the lead implementing partner. MAPS project is a five year project which took effect from October 1, 2010; the project recently secured a one year-no cost extension and will be rounding up by September 30, 2016. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of; State Coordinator (MAPS)

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:

    • Lead the States MAPS team
    • Lead the development of MAPS State specific activity plans; drawing from the annual MAPS work plan and State malaria program operational plans.
    • To provide up-to-date inputs to the annual planning processes of MAPS.
    • To coordinate the implementation of the State MAPS team activities.
    • To contribute to the development and review of technical documents, reports, and materials for state specific implementation.
    • Foster a harmonious relationship between MAPS and State level government, donor partners and non-state entities.
    • Participate in technical meetings at state and national levels as determined by the Implementation Director to support state malaria programs.
    • Any other duties assigned by the Implementation Director.

    Qualifications:

    • MBBS/MD/PHD or similar degree with 5-7 years relevant experience with international development programs which includes 5 years experience with Malaria program planning and implementation at the community or state level working with public and NGO sectors
    • Or MS/MA in social science, public health or related field, MPH preferred,      and a minimum of 7-9 years relevant experience with international      development programs which includes 5 years experience with Malaria      program planning and implementation at the community or state level      working with public and NGO sectors.     
    • Or BS/BA in social science, public health or related field, with a minimum of      9-11 years relevant experience with international development programs      which includes 5 years experience with Malaria program planning and      implementation at the community or state level working with public and NGO sectors.
    • Experience in health related work (especially malaria) or project management is essential
    • Experience working with government and donor funded program/development sector will be a strong added advantage

    Finance and Administrative Associate

    Project Description:

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of; Finance and Administrative Associate (MAPS)

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:

    1. Provide main support with problem resolution on CO cash accounts, bank resolutions, finance systems, resolution of audited questioned costs, and financial close outs at the state level.
    2. Ensure the accurate keeping of all books of account for the state office, including checking account, equipment and supply registers and all accounting records.
    3. Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including financial status of subprojects account activities and submit reports with supporting documents on time to the Finance Director in Abuja.
    4. Oversee contractual issues for the state offices.
    5. Ensure that a register for Inventory Supplies and Non-expendable property is maintained and updated in a timely manner, and ensure the safety of MAPS project property
    6. Check the availability of budget; ensures that payment vouchers are properly completed and are adequately supported by relevant documents before they are processed
      1. Ensure continuous flow of funds to state office and to sub recipients and retirement of finance and program advances to the State.
    7. Provide support to and coordinate the FHI/Nigeria (MAPS) activities within USAID and PEPFAR guidelines and regulations.
    8. With relevant parties from programs, finance and contracts and grants, support the development of subproject documents, work plans and budgets.
    9. Oversee capacity building activities and other support to local implementing agencies (IAs) in the focus states.
    10. Serve as point of contact for logistical and administrative needs in the state.
    11. Coordinate all administrative and secretarial support services for the field office (as relevant).
    12. Keep proper office records/filings as appropriate.
    13. Record minutes of staff meetings and circulates same amongst the field staff.
    14. Coordinate all travel details/logistics for the staff, consultants and TDyers’ including booking hotel accommodations and arranging for airport and hotel pick-ups.
    15. Provide logistic support for workshops and trainings.
    16. Coordinate all records/storage of supplies for the state office.
    17. Ensure that a register for Inventory Supplies and Non-expendable property is maintained and updated in a timely manner, and ensure the safety of MAPS project property.
    18. Perform other duties as assigned. 
    Qualifications: 
    • BSc. Or HND in Accounting, Business Administration or Economics and 4 years relevant experience.
    • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in office management and administration.
    • Experience in managing financial records of donor-funded organizations, and familiarity with donor and local contractual procedures is an advantage.

    Project Director

    Project Description:

    FHI 360 seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Project Director for an upcoming education project in Nigeria. S/he will provide overall technical and administrative leadership and expertise of the project and will serve as the primary liaison with USAID/Nigeria on management and technical matters. This position will be based in Abuja, Nigeria. Availability of position is contingent upon funding.

     

    The Project Director will supervise project implementation and ensure the project meets stated goals and reporting requirements. S/he will take a leadership role in coordination among USAID and key stakeholders. S/he will be expected to work in complex, politically charged and unstable environments, work across different cultures, and manage diverse teams to deliver impact within agreed timelines.
     

    Qualifications: 
    • Master’s (Ph.D. preferred) in at least one of the following fields: education with a specialty in reading and literacy education, curriculum and instruction, elementary teacher education, education policy, linguistics, gender or other relevant international development field with bias towards education, gender and development is required;
    • At least 10 years of experience in relevant management, supervisory, technical experience working with education programs/projects in a resource-limited setting;
    • At least 5 of these years must be in a management/leadership position;
    • At least 5 years of experience in the education sector in Sub-Saharan Africa, either in Nigeria or West Africa;
    • Experience in education in conflict-affected, alternative, and rural settings;
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English; fluent in host country language as appropriate; 
    • Experience operating in insecure environments;
    • Experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
