  • It’s another time of the year when we relax to unwind and make merry after a long year.
We thank you for making www.myjobmag.com your No. 1 Job website this year 2011.

As you move into a new year, we want you to bear this in mind this coming year (Please this is not one of the motivational write ups you see daily, this is reality! This is what works!!!)

We understand that you may have spent a couple of years (and money too) going to school to enable you make a living.
We understand that currently you may have little or no financial support.
We understand that the unemployment rate in the country is too high.
We understand that you may have been on a low paying job for a long while and may barely have enough to spare.
We understand that things are rough ‘generally.’

AT THE SAME TIME, WE KNOW THAT THERE ARE SOLUTIONS TO YOUR PROBLEM!

The solution is: LEARN A SKILL, BE EXCEPTIONAL!

The next thing you may be thinking is: What do I learn? To answer that, let us look at the basic things we are familiar with:

Do you know that the Microsoft Excel you see everyday can do beyond what you were taught in the computer lessons? Do you know how much value the ‘little’ extra knowledge can give to you?

Do you know that if you are a good tailor, you can make fortunes from it?  Forget about degrees here, please!

Do you know that as an accountant, knowledge of Peachtree or Sage can add extra value to you?

THE NEXT STEP IS THIS: ASK YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS:
WHAT EXTRA VALUE CAN I ADD TO A BUSINESS?
    WHY WILL THEY NEED ME?
LOOK BEYOND RECEIVING MONTHLY SALARY, AND ASK YOURSELF WHICH PROBLEM CAN I SOLVE?

To help you get the point, assume you are a Human Resource Personnel and look at these two conversations:

CONVERSATION 1 – HR Personnel and a Computer Science Graduate

    Job Seeker: Good afternoon sir,
    HR Officer:
Good afternoon, you are welcome. What can I do for you?

Job Seeker: Sir, do you have a vacancy in your company? I really need a job
    HR Officer:
At the moment, we do not have vacancies in our Company.

Job Seeker: Ok Sir, any position at all? I am a fast learner, hardworking and loyal....
    HR Officer:
Ok, I understand. Kindly drop your CV with the secretary; will contact you if something comes up.

CONVERSATION 2 – HR Personnel (same company, same day) and another Computer Science Graduate

    Job Seeker: Good afternoon sir,
    HR Officer:
Good afternoon, you are welcome. What can I do for you?

Job Seeker: Sir, I am a computer science graduate and I know you have a large workforce. From my research, I found out you are running a manual payroll and HR system in your Company. Sir, I can ensure we migrate successfully from a manual system to an automated system which can save lots of funds for the company in the long run.
    HR Officer:
Ok sounds nice. Kindly explain further...

    Job Seeker: (.... explanations ...)
    HR Officer:
Ok, its clearer now. I do not think we will be needing it immediately but we may need to discuss this in our meeting next week Monday. Check back on Tuesday to enable us discuss better.

    < --- End of discussion --- >

WHO DO YOU THINK GOT A BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING A JOB 'EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO JOB'?

We are not ignorant of the ‘man know man’ condition in the country but we assure you that changing your job search perspective will go a long way in helping you secure your dream job and do not forget that THE MORE YOU KNOW, THE MORE CONFIDENT YOU ARE!!!

Once again Merry Christmas and grab all the fun you can while you get ready for the work ahead.

    Cheers

    From MyJobMag Crew!
