    QA LABORATORY ASSISTANT

    Report To: SENIOR QA ASSISTANT – CHEMICAL ANALYSIS

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY
    Assist the chemical analyst in the routine chemical analysis of water, raw materials, semi-finished and finished products.

    MAIN FUNCTIONS

    • Assist the chemical analyst in daily chemical analysis of all chemicals and raw materials supplied to prevent acceptance and use of substandard materials.
    • Ensure daily treatment of borehole water and analysis of treated water, factory water and canteen water for processing/consumption in line with WHO statutory requirements for potable water.
    • Assist the chemical analyst in  the determination of quality and wholesomeness of products from the factory, including their nutritive value, sensory properties and conformity with legal regulations
    • Collect sample for the monitoring of the potency of chemicals / preservatives under storage in the warehouse to ensure they are used up before deterioration sets in.
    • Carry out routine analysis of semi-finished / finished products before the products are released to the market to prevent transfer of sub-standard products into the market.
    • Assist in the control of production process according to specifications and good manufacturing practice (GMP) in order to achieve optimal properties and avoid unwanted components, to which chemical and sensory methods are applied.
    • Keep records of maintenance, calibrations, and repairs of laboratory equipments.
    • Ensuring absolute control and proper handling of laboratory equipment.
    • Ensure strict adherence to all existing safety / precautionary measures while working in the Laboratory to guide against occupational hazards within the Laboratory.
    • Send samples of products/raw materials to third party laboratory for confirmation/statutory quarterly analysis.
    • Liaise with technical department in the operation of the Effluent Treatment plant and carry out routine analysis on effluent.
    • Keep/update daily analysis and materials record in the chemical laboratory and forward same to the chemical analyst.

    RELEVANT INFORMATION

    • A good university/polytechnics Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Chemistry, Biochemistry Food Science& Tech. or Science Laboratory Technology with minimum of 3 year Laboratory operations, QC/QA, R&D/Production cognate experience in a Food Manufacturing/Processing industry.

    QA ASSISTANT/ LINE INSPECTOR

    RESPONSIBLE TO: SENIOR QA EXECUTIVE – PROCESS AUDIT/LINE INSPECTION

    1. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY
    Assist the Process Auditor in the implementation and monitoring of systems / procedures for handling and production of good quality product, reducing cost of non-conformities and variances generated in the Factory to meet customers’ requirement profitably, while ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices.

    2. MAIN FUNCTIONS
    2.1 Ensure that all personnel within the factory floor adhere strictly to codes of personal hygiene; use of overalls, caps, nose mask, safety boot, etc. Staff must not wear beards, long nails.
    2.2 Ensure that the factory floor and environment are constantly maintained clean and safe for the production of good quality products. 
    2.3 Ensure that all raw & packaging materials meant for production use are suitable and certified okay.
    2.4 Ensure that the conditions of storage of materials in the WIP store are adequate for safe keeping of materials prior to usage to guide against generation of bad and damaged materials.
    2.5 Ensure that production processes within the factory satisfy provision of our specifications and standard procedures of operations.
    2.6 Carry out periodic online quality checks/tests (send samples to the laboratory for further analyses where applicable) and advise the production team to make adjustments, preventive/corrective measures where necessary for conformity to product specifications.
    2.7 Ensure proper labeling of materials, batch/date coding of finished products to enhance identification and traceability.
    2.8 Where materials are identified as not-suitable for usage, ensure that such materials are isolated, properly labeled and advise the production team to initiate process for disposal as provided by the standard procedure for control of non-conforming products.
    2.9 Ensure that samples of the finished products are taken for laboratory and organoleptic analyses and evaluate the results before the products are released.
    2.10 Ensure that records of daily process audit activities are maintained.  
    2.11 Prepare, record and make available all flavours for factory production.
    2.12 Perform any other duties as directed by the Process Auditor(s)
         
    3. RELEVANT INFORMATION
    I. A good university/polytechnics Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Chemistry, Biochemistry Food Science& Tech. or Science Laboratory Technology with minimum of 3 year Quality Assurance/R&D/Production experience in a Food Manufacturing/Processing industry.

    SENIOR QA EXECUTIVE - PACKAGING SPECIALIST

    RESPONSIBLE TO: HEAD – QUALITY ASSURANCE

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY
    Responsible for managing, coordinating and executing all packaging development/improvement initiatives. Also provide technical research and support on all new packaging development to meet customers’ requirement profitably, while ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices.

    MAIN FUNCTIONS

    • Manage all packaging development initiatives with the Group Packaging team, local Marketing team and external strategic partners.
    • Coordinate and facilitate plant trials and new packaging development start up, working with vendors/suppliers.
    • Ensure that all packaging materials meant for production use are suitable and certified okay.
    • Manage and oversees packaging test, shelf life testing, label legal claims and packaging specifications.
    • Ensure that the M&E team as well as other team members receive development initiatives feedback regularly.
    • Ensure periodic verification/calibration of all packaging machine in the factory with the M&E team for consistency in packaging quality, control of variances and production efficiency.
    • Carry out periodic online quality checks/tests and advise the production team to make adjustments, preventive/corrective measures where necessary for conformity to packaging specifications.
    • Ensure that samples of the finished products are taken for packaging analyses and evaluate the results before the products are released to trade.
    • Make available packaging dummy for NAFDAC packaging verification before commercial run
    • Manage and maintain records of all bar code allocation for all packaging element.
    • Verify all packaging artwork, KLD adaptation and PIFA for all vendors/supplier prior to colour cylinder approval.

    3. RELEVANT INFORMATION

    • A good university degree in Food Science & Tech, Chemistry or Physics with a minimum of 5 years practical experience in a food manufacturing or packaging company.
    • An innovative, skillful and self-motivated team player.
    • Analytically minded, and proficient in the use Windows.
