    TECHNICAL MANAGER

    Job Summary:

    To effectively manage concrete quality procedures and analyses of QC results, Implement quality manual, cost savings and concrete performance, innovative mix designs and raw material selection; and management of product related customer claims.

    MAIN  ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

    To Maintain cost of mix design at optimal level, with good quality and high customer satisfaction within Lafarge approved concrete quality & safety policies under the following sub headings:

    HEALTH & SAFETY 

    Main Activities/Responsibilities

    • Ensures that all equipment and processes meet the Lafarge Safety road map and guidelines.
    • Actively engages with the workforce to reinforce safety behavior on all Ready-mix plants and job sites  and to assess H&S compliance, with documented visit report
    • Select and champion  important safety action items, in consultation with the Safety Manager and MD 

    OPTIMIZATION OF MIX DESIGN AND RAW MATERIAL COSTS 

    Main Activities/Responsibilities

    • Select, characterize and validate raw material sourcing
    • Prepare mix designs according to specifications and standards
    • Responsible for implementation of supplier raw material agreement
    • Responsible for  implementation and correct use of IT programs
    1. Quality control of raw materials and design of new mixes
    2. Management of concrete tests results
    3. Management of mix designs database

    Management of Product Development and Technical Assistance to Customers 

    Main Activities/Responsibilities 

    In coordination with area manager and sales representative:

    • Technical support to sales team and site assistance and follow up on customer complaints
    • Minimizes consequences and contributes to management of product related customer claims
    • Technical support in the development and management of Value Added Products 

    Implementation, Management of Quality Policy & Performance Management

    • Ensures compliance to technical certification and regulatory environment
    • Implements quality manual and quality procedures
    • Analyses QC results and track KPIS for concrete and raw materials to implement corrective measures
    • Raw material management monitoring, from sale to consumption
    • Drawing up and keeping monthly raw material and liquid fuel stock control report
    • Follow up on all plant benchmark and take actions
    • Statistical studies of produced and delivered ready mix concrete

    Desired Skills and Experience

    Level of training:

    First Degree in Civil Engineering or other related fields
    Professional qualifications in Certification in concrete technology
    Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
    Minimum 15years experience in concrete technology in a reputable organisation(s) 

    Linguistic skills:

    Proficiency in English Language (Written & Oral)

    OPERATIONS MANAGER

    The Operations Manager will oversee batching plant operations, also ensuring that the key resources required in operations (material e.g. cement & aggregates) are available and optimized.

    Main Activities/Responsibilities

    Ensures that all equipment and processes meet the Lafarge Safety road map and guidelines.
    - Actively engages with the workforce to reinforce safety behavior on all Ready-mix plants and job sites and to assess H&S        compliance, with documented visit report
    - Select and champion important safety action items, in consultation with Safety Manager and the GM. 

    OPERATIONS 

    Main Activities/Responsibilities

    • Accountable for overall performance of the batching plant operations (production, equipment utilization, HR, fleet management, material supplies esp. cement, ... )
    • With the support of the technical manager and performance analyst, ensure proper internal controls are in place (especially stock reconciliations, loss investigation, ... )
    • Maintain adequate levels of all supplies and products (i.e. fuel, cement, admixtures, fiber mesh, etc.); maintain accurate and current reports as required and general administrative oversight of plant activities
    • Ensure all vehicles and equipment continually remains in safe and efficient operating condition; monitor all preventative and regular maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
    • Develop processes to ensure concrete sales dispatch as needed; coordinate all scheduling with dispatch; monitor all driver activity to ensure customer needs are being met in an efficient manner; address specific problems; provide advice and implementation of processes to provide assistance to customers as needed, and respond to all complaints in a timely manner. 

    PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT 

    Main Activities/Responsibilities

    • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, plant, and employees
    • Raw material management monitoring, from sale to consumption
    • Follow up on all plant benchmark and take actions
    • Statistical studies of produced and delivered ready mix concrete
    • Develop proper reporting templates and ensure effective report management 

    PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

    • Ensure necessary level of competency for direct reports
    • Develop and agree training & Development plan for Operational staff

    Desired Skills and Experience 

    Training:

    First Degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering or related field
    Professional qualifications in Certification in concrete technology
    Master’s degree will be an advantage.
    Minimum 15years' experience in concrete technology in reputable organisation(s) 

    Linguistic skills:

    Proficiency in English Language (Oral & Written)
