    Industrial Trainee

    Purpose
    This purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines on how requests for Student Industrial Attachment would be treated by Nigerdock Nigeria Plc-PZE.

    Key Aims

    •     There must be a request from signed by an approving authority of the candidate’s school requesting Nigerdock to provide an internship programme for the candidate within a certain period of time.
    •     The prospective Industrial Attachment candidate must be reside within the Lagos metropolis.
    •     The number of IT students within the organization must not be more than 10 at any given point of time.
    •     Any candidate coming in for Industrial Attachment purposes will not be housed in the Nigerdock accommodation permises.
    •     There shall be no extension of the programmed or offer of employment at the expiration of the IT tenure.
    •     Where a candidate is deemed fit to be offered an appointment at the expiration of his/her IT, an approval must be sought from the Managing Director through the HR department. Such a candidate must still go through the Nigerdock recruitment and assessment process.
    •     The Company will pay an allowance at the approved rate to the candidate at the end of every month served.
    •     IT candidates will be required to work Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm with one hour break period during the course of the working day.
    •     An IT candidate is not entitled to overtime and weekend/public holiday work or pay.

    Material Controller

    Purpose
    To plan Material availability and effective allocation of Materials to various projects within ND

    Key aims and objectives

    •     Monitoring and Control of Project Materials
    •     Handling, Identification, Transportation, Storage, Preservation and Issuance of Project Materials

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties

    •     Receiving, Verification and segregation of Project Materials in accordance with Project
    •     procedures
    •     Verification of  received Materials against Way Bill / Packing List
    •     Mark assigned UIDs on Materials
    •     Follow-up and co-ordinate physical verification (ensure visibility of UIDs and traceability information) on all materials.
    •     Upon receipt of MIVs Identify required materials to be issued
    •     Efficient control of stock and offcuts.
    •     Receives returned offcuts from fabrications
    •     Notify Material Coordinators of any discrepancies / Non conformances
    •     Ensure that all relevant safety, quality and environmental procedures and controls are adhered to.
    •     Ensure adherence to all departmental policies, processes and standard operating procedures.

    The Person

    •     A minimum of Secondary School certificate with a will to further his/her knowledge.

    •     Direct experience in the utilization of computerized inventory control systems
    •     Computer literacy
    •     Must be proactive and a Self-Starter.
    •     Good Team Player and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision
    •     Knowledge of the use of forklift or any Material Handling equipment would be an asset.

    Logistics Supervisor

    Purpose/Role:

    •     The purpose of this role is to support Logistics Operations in coordinating vessels operations, load out and back load of offshore vessels/ materials and other related project Logistics activities.
    • Key aims and objectives:
    •     Identify shipments without 21 free days and Deposit waiver as prime focus.
    •     To ensure that vessels inward and outward procedures are complied with, by clients.
    •     To ensure that that Cargo Manifest for all deliveries and cargo to be loaded and discharges are received
    •     and processed to and from Clients/ Vessels, in compliance with procedures and governance, including Industry standards, IMO requirements, Nigerian Customs Services, etc.
    •     To ensure that cargo / materials transfer from warehouse/laydown area are planned, and carried out as per weekly plan.
    •     To maintain & develop relationships with customers, resolving any operational issues, where necessary engaging Logistics Manager’s support.
    • Prime Responsibilities and Duties:
    •     To ensure that all operations with the scope of work are carried out in a safe manner.
    •     Develop a tracker as a data source base to keep record of vessels details/ movement using protocol pass as source.
    •     Ensure that the weekly plan/ request by client, vessels captain.
    •     Liaise with clients’ representative in relative matters.
    •     To ensure that berthing space, equipment and onshore resources (labour and equipment) required for loading and unloading Quay-side operations are arranges for in a timely manner.
    •     Coordinate trucks for the cargo and material transfer from Quay-side to warehouse area/ site.
    •     To submit daily, weekly and monthly trucks/material movement details to Logistics Manager.
    •     Maintain an ongoing Liaison with a range of stakeholders others as necessary to ensure smooth and reliable delivery of services.
    •     Participate in the development of Outbound & Inbound communications to ensure that offshore operations are supported in a businesslike manner, to the advantage of both client and company.
    •     Alert Logistics Manager, of any delivery not formally properly communicated or other issues related to contracts responsibilities and agreed service levels, taking immediate actions as necessary
    •     .Ensure compliance of vessels to MARPOL 73/78, ISM, Port safety code 2005 and safe handling operations.
    •     Participate in and contribute to the development of planning and processes related to Offshore service support and business development

    The Persons:

    •     Must be strong in dealing with vessels operations challenges, and suitably experiences and trained with strong working knowledge of shipping practices / with appropriate background maritime education
    •     Must be resolute, organized, well-coordinated
    •     Fluent in communication with English, verbally/Orally and writing
    •     Must be Proactive, decisive, able to give succinct and sufficient report
    •     Must be tactically pragmatic and able to carry out investigation and intelligence gathering
    •     Must have good level of computer soft skills: MS Office (word and excel)
    •     Must be ND/HND holder with 3-4 years’ experience at the vessel/ ship/ shipping operations.
    •     Must have proven experience in boarding / ship agency.

    Logistics Projects Support

    Purpose/Role:
    The purpose of this role is to support Logistics Manager in managing documentation to ensure compliance to the Site Instruction procedures agreed with client(s) as per the Logistics Contract for Warehouse & Quay-side operations, passenger logistics, counting the usage storage vis-à-vis unit counting for operational cost recovery and other Logistics activities.  The role is envisaged as a short term requirement initially, but may be extended as an established role based on ‘value added’ judgments.

    Key aims and objectives:

    •     To ensure that Site Instruction Procedures are being followed, and that all administration requirements are being captured appropriately, and being implemented as the operational / contract process requires.
    •     To support in managing the clients’ portfolio, and act as key account administrator to manage WAV / special client requests.
    •     To ensure that records & / trackers for the return of clients’ empty containers / materials are fully maintained and appropriate actions are taken to manage full cost / revenue recovery.
    • Prime Responsibilities and Duties:
    •     To keep records and maintain tracker of service to client (WAV).
    •     Ensure that weekly plans and work request by clients, particularly where relevant to performance evaluations, are presented as a validated report for management use.
    •     To support Logistics Manager in all aspect related to Site Instructions; ensure all S.I comply with Site instruction procedures as per Logistics Project Contract.
    •     To maintain Site Instruction operational register vis-s-vis client submission and present same to Manager in a timely manner for signature / approvals and subsequent process actions.
    •     To issue Change Orders (CO’s) as required, and ensure CO’s tally with all chargeable activities done vi-a-vis all Site Instructions issued.
    •     Check records and coordinate with Logistics Vessel Operations supervisor on related services provided for confirmation of activities and charges related to same.
    •     To ensure weekly and monthly submission for use of trucks / SS7-return of materials / containers / (ERHA Fabrication and Logistics Contracts) movement details to Logistics Admin. Manager.
    •     Alert Logistics Manager, of any request not formally communicated, liaise with ND departments and client operational representatives as required to confirm accuracy and relevance of reporting, and subsequent invoicing actions.

    The Persons:

    •     Will have a suitable knowledge and experience of operational safety in similar circumstances, with a demonstrable commitment to supporting safe working in marine and port environments.
    •     Must be articulate in written documentation, identify gaps, errors and resolve for managers approval and must be fluent in both oral and writing communication
    •     Must be tidy, businesslike, resolute, and well organized, and able to coordinate and support special Logistics Client request/projects.
    •     Must be Proactive, decisive, able to develop and give succinct and accurate reports
    •     Must be able to carry out investigations and intelligence gathering, reporting useful findings regularly
    •     Must be tactical and able to use computer soft skills: words and excel  for data capturing, tracking and presentation data.
    •     Must be ND/HND holder with 3-4 years’ experience Logistics/. Shipping operations/ services.

    Head Chef

    Purpose/Role:

    •     Managing the daily catering operations in the Shore Club.

    •     Monitor man-power allocation in line with work progress.

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties:

    •     Ensure proper handover/takeover of your shift.
    •     You are responsible to the Catering Manager during your working day.
    •     You are responsible for all cooks and cleaners on your shift.
    •     Check at the beginning of your shift that all staff are present. Report any absentees to the Catering    Manager.
    •     Inspect your staff and ensure that they are correctly dressed prior to commencing work. No jewelry  or watches to be worn except plain band wedding rings.
    •     Training for all local cooks and kitchen assistants in food preparation and sanitation
    •     Alternate different tasks to your cooks daily and ensure they are not doing the same job each day.
    •     Maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times and ensure that all staff clean as they go, especially    at the end of each shift. No exceptions.
    •     Supervise kitchen cleaners and ensure that all daily kitchen cleaning tasks are carried out. Departments, Fridges, Stores, Cupboards, Working Areas, ect.
    •     Ensure proper procedures for food preparation and sanitation are being followed.
    •     Review the day’s menu and ensure all ingredients are available for preparation and that correct issues from the ration store are carried out.
    •     Always have a back-up solution to the daily menu and extra garnish. Do not run out.
    •     Ensure correct methods of cooking are carried out.
    •     Keep a high standard of hotplate from beginning to end. Ensure that it is constantly at the correct temperature and correctly staffed at all times.
    •     Make sure that all leftover foods are properly cooled and stored.
    •     Any catering equipment that needs repairing, report to the Catering Manager
    •     If in Doubt regarding any issue. Report to the Catering Manager.

    QA/QC Inspector

    Purpose/Role:
    To ensure proper quality management within the ship repair division and the proper management of welding and its related activities.

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties:

    •     Ensures the correct welding parameter is used during welding operation
    •     Assist the welding engineer during welder qualification and procedure qualification; maintaining the records (PQR)
    •     Interpretation of working drawings (Approved working drawings and weld maps)
    •     Carryout necessary materials checks and maintain documentation
    •     Carryout of weld Audit
    •     Checking of fit-up preparation and pre-weld inspections in accordance to applicable drawings and specifications.
    •     Reviewing and documenting welder’s qualification test result.
    •     Monitoring of dimensional surveys and review of reports for proper presentation and communication of results and documentation.
    •     Witness NDT Inspection
    •     Ensuring that work process is done according to specification
    •     Monitor fit-up operation in line with relevant drawings and WPS
    •     Carry out Visual Inspection of welds, during and after welding.
    •     Assist in Providing timely corrective actions to identified non-conformances on welding
    •     Liaises with clients site personnel on welding related issues identified on site 
    •     Reviewing of Radiographic films and NDT reports and procedures
    •     Monitor weld repairs and ensures that all operations are done in line with the procedures
    •     Report HSE anomalies and ensures that permit to work (PTW) is available prior to job commencement

    The Persons:

    •     HAVE A BACHELORS DEGREE IN ENGINEERING/SCIENCES OR EQUIVALENT AND A CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR CERTIFIED CSWIP 3.1 OR EQUIVALENT (CWI).
    •     GOOD BACKGROUND IN NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING; WITH CERTIFICATION IN THE BASIC FIVE METHODS OF EITHER PCN-BiNDT OR ASNT (AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING) WHICH INCLUDES ULTRASONIC TESTING, MAGNETIC PARTICLE TESTING, RAIOGRAPHIC TESTING, PENETRANT TESTING, RADIOGRAPHIC FILM INTEPRETATION

    Purpose/Role:

    •     MUST HAVE NECESSARY EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION IN ATLEAST FOUR NDT METHODS USED IN QUALITY CONTROL OF WELDS:
    •     LEVEL II ULTRASONIC TESTING
    •     LEVEL II MAGNETIC PARTICLE TESTING
    •     LEVEL II DYE PENETRANT TESTING
    •     CERTIFICATION FROM EITHER OF ASNT OR BiNDT PCN OR EQUIVALENT WILL BE ACCEPTABLE
    •     KNOWLEDGE OF AUTO-CAD AND GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF VESSEL LAYOUT WILL BE REQUIRED
    •     PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN MARINE AND SHIP MAINTENANCE VERY NECESSARY
    •     LEVEL II RADIOGRAPHIC TESTING
