    Junior Actuarial Specialist

    This role is responsible for carrying out technical actuarial work, often using complex systems and packages and often accompanies the Senior Actuarial Specialist. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts with some supervision.

    Description:

    • Carries out technical actuarial work, often using complex systems and packages.
    • Checks, manipulates and analyses volumes of data and draws conclusions from the analyses.
    • Responsible for technical accuracy and implementation of work.
    • Translates actuarial concepts into client-friendly terminology.
    • May participate in the preparation of actuarial reports and advice to stakeholders and other members of the firm.

    Key Result Areas:
    • Actuarial Service Delivery:

    o Checks, manipulates and analyses volumes of data and draws conclusions from the analyses.
    o Assists in Pricing of products (Life and Non-Life Insurance)
    o Assists in Product Development considering both the pricing and profit signatures of the product but also the practical aspects e.g. understanding the various teams that need to come together to make a product work.
    o Assists in regular actuarial valuations
    o Carries out technical actuarial work, often using complex systems and packages.
    o Ensures technical accuracy and implementation of own work as well as carries out review of work carried out by other teams.
    o Has advanced excel skills including working knowledge of VBA
    o Has good report writing skills.
    o Has a basic understanding of reinsurance (Life and Non-Life)

    Qualifications:
    o First Degree o 1 years technical insurance/actuarial experience o Willing to start or has already started working towards qualifying as an Actuary with a recognised body e.g. Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or Society of Actuaries. Personal Effectiveness: o Is accountable for service delivery through own efforts. o Individually accountable for managing own time, tasks and output quality with some supervision. o Makes increased contributions by broadening individual skills o Has good communication skills o Has good interpersonal skills o Collaborates effectively with others to achieve personal results. o Accepts and lives the company values.

    o Participates in Product Development considering both the pricing and profit signatures of the product but also the practical aspects e.g. understanding the various teams that need to come together to make a product work.

    o Carries out technical actuarial work, often using complex systems and packages.
    o Ensures technical accuracy and implementation of own work as well as carries out review of work carried out

    o Has good report writing skills and can translate actuarial concepts into easy to understand terminology which is appropriate for the various audiences.
    o Has an understanding of insurance accounting and can assist with actuarial input into financials
    o Has an understanding of reinsurance (Life and Non-Life)

     

    Qualifications:
    o First Degree o 4 years technical insurance/actuarial experience o Working towards qualifying as an Actuary with a recognised body e.g. Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (minimum of 11 credits)or Society of Actuaries (equivalent number of credits). Personal Effectiveness: o Is accountable for service delivery through own efforts. o Individually accountable for managing own time, tasks and output quality. o Makes increased contributions by broadening individual skills o Has good communication skills o Has good interpersonal skills o Collaborates effectively with others to achieve personal results. o Accepts and lives the company values.

    CORPORATE & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1) Anticipate and assess changes to the company’s Operating Environment which create commercial risk and competitive opportunity. Ensure anticipated changes are communicated to the market and hub managements and the sub-regional CA Director
    2) Share local experience with other market CA heads through regular meetings or conference calls to enrich global knowledge, benefit from best practices and contribute to global initiatives. In this way, build a CA capacity in Nigeria according to management needs and priorities and based on available resources.
    3) Establish, where applicable, political, regulatory, and media stakeholders mapping which identify the groups or individuals who influence and shape public and government policy and opinion.
    4) Develop, or work with functional counterparts to develop market related positions and views regarding public issues which have significant impact on the company’s operating environment and share them with markets management and sub-region.

    Qualifications:
    Minimum 5 years professional experience in Corporate Affairs or 5 years commercial experience as a Line Manager or Head of Business Function preferably in a regulated industry. Experience in one or several countries within WECA is a must.
