    Accountant (Mid Level)

    Position Purpose, Record, Classify, and Summarize in a significant manner and in terms of money, transactions and events which are, in part at least, of financial character, and interpreting the results thereof; Administer payroll and employee finance while significantly contributing to Budgeting and budgetary control

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage reconciliation of payroll balance sheet accounts.
    • Manage employee expense postings such as the corporate bonus, out of station allowance, advance payments etc.
    • Recording of account payable, accounts Receivable, procurement activities
    • Reconciliation of Bank Accounts
    • Running and Preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports (i.e. Income statement, cashflow statement, balance sheet)
    • Responsible for quarterly and annual filings
    • Maintaining fixed assets register
    • Posting of journal entries
    • Intercompany reconciliations
    • Monthly Financial Close Process
    • Communicate and collaborate proactively with project finance and project management in an effort to anticipate project financial needs.
    • Advise on financial cash positioning of company and make recommendations on effective ways to keep processes lean/reduce cost
    • Provide guidance and assistance on maintaining compliance, audits and research
    • Maintain current knowledge of compensation accounting
    • Accountable for collation, compilation, preparation and analysis of annual Master
    • Prepare monthly comparative report, analyzing and reviewing variance, cash flow and KPI reports
    • Maintain internal control compliance on all payroll accounting related activities.
    • Point person in internal and external payroll audits
    • Identify and drive process improvements consistent with industry best practices
    • Responsible for monitoring and resolving bank issues including fee anomalies and cheque differences

    Qualifications

    • 4-5 years’ accounting experience – payroll, vendor management and employee finance in a reputable organization
    • Intermediate to advanced  proficiency in Quick book, ERP, Sage, SAP and Peachtree accounting software
    • Budget and Budgetary control
    • Proficient use of Microsoft excel
    • Financial Accounting, Cash flow management, financial Modelling

    Job Description

    • To provide well researched, competent, timely legal counsel on all range of matters especially as it relates to Industries/Sectors where the VGN Group carries on business or intends to so proceed.
    • To demonstrate creative and analytical skills in resolving potential and real legal challenges which the Group may encounter in relevant Sectors or Industries.
    • To demonstrate an in-depth capacity to understand the general operational and to a fair extent the operational aspects of VGN’s clustered operations with a view to give very practical and informed counsel at every opportunity.
    • Lastly, to be vastly informed – a natural and voracious reader from whose bank of international and local insight VGN will benefit. To have capacity for clear thinking and delivery under very pressured circumstances. To at all times protect VGN’s clustered operations from current and potential threats, risks and or other deterrent factors to the strategic objectives of the Company.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • To be  an excellent listener such as to adequately take on and understand Management’s requests
    • Must undertake Statutory, Regulatory, Policy and or documentation research as may be relevant to all received instructions 
    • Drafting and review of relevant transitional documentation on the basis of insights from research and residual experience
    • Attend meetings with a view to give preliminary guidance on the foundations of transactions or on the legal strength and or weaknesses of existing transaction
    • Undertake negotiation on behalf of the Company
    • To undertake all such other duties as may be assigned by VGN’s Executive Management

    Qualifications

    * First degree in law- Bachelor of Law (LLB)

    * Law School Graduate- Barrister at law (BL)
