    Shonny Investments and Properties Company is the first wholly indegenuous company to develop a fully integrated, mixed residential estate in Nigeria. The Maryland Estate (Shonibare Estate). 

    Over the years the company has expanded its portfolio from residential development to include hospitality, initially with a 50 bedroom Hotel and Commercial with an 18 Storey Office building in Marina.

    General Manager


    Responsible for managing a privately owned property portfolio, across residential and commercial real estate, in an efficient and value enhancing manner that is consistent with the overall strategic plan for the company. Accountable for all business, financial, and management aspects of the business including preparing, implementing and adhering to the approved strategic plan, annual budgeting across individual projects and the company as a whole, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with tenants or occupants, and supervising the day-today activities of the management staff as well as contract services. Will be responsible for directly supervising a variety of staff which may include building, administration, operations, maintenance and finance/accounting and reporting the board of directors. 

    Principal Responsibilities 

    As General Manager, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

    • Work in conjunction with the management team to actively manage key property issues (including capital projects; customer service; refurbishment)
    • Assist the development of meaningful, achievable budgets and other short and long term strategic goals.
    • Provide effective leadership to the management team and team members to ensure targets are met and exceeded
    • Respond to audits that are completed by the company to ensure continual improvement is achieved.
    • Plan, direct and coordinate the service delivery of all operational departments in order to meet and exceed client expectations
    • Comply and exceed industry Service Standards
    • Ensure that costs are controlled throughout the operational departments and results are analysed regularly to highlight problem areas and take appropriate action
    • Manage and develop the  members of the management team to ensure career progression and effective succession planning within the company
    • Seek and respond to client feedback in order to achieve positive outcomes and high levels of customer satisfaction
    • Hold regular briefings and communication meetings with the management team

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
    • A minimum of 8 years working in real estate with residential property management; 8 to 10 years experience preferred.
    • Must have knowledge and experience with financial accounting in commercial real estate, financial reporting and budgeting.
    • Hands-on experience with tenant improvement construction projects preferred; ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects, ability to read and understand construction specifications and blueprints.
    • Minimum of 5 years experience directly supervising and managing a staff including experience in planning and assigning work, performance assessments, training, hiring, discipline, and development.
    • Strong literacy in MS Word and Excel.
    • Highly organized and skilled with time management.
    • Strong customer service/tenant relation skill required.
    • Excellent communications skills (written reports/analysis and oral presentation).
    • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate the team to achieve high performance levels and exceed targets
    • Accountable and resilient
    • Ability to work under pressure
