How can you make a difference?
- The position is established to provide operational security support to all field offices in Nigeria. The incumbent will be based in Abuja, however, will be expected to undertake frequent travel to all field-offices in Nigeria in order to assist implementation of programmes across the country.
- The security situation on ground requires an experienced security specialist to function as an advisor with regards to maintaining safety and security of UNICEF personnel and eligible family members; premises and assets in the area of responsibility in accordance with UN and UNICEF Security Management Systems.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
Act the advisor on staff safety and security to heads of field offices:
- Liaison with UNDSS, Security professionals of other Agencies, Funds & Programmes:
- In collaboration with the UNICEF programme and communication, provide relevant analysis for integration into the planning and execution of all activities.

Requirements
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:
- Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Security Management, Business Administration, Political / Social Science, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Law, International Relations or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two years of added qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A first-level university degree may be substituted with a diploma from a police or military education institution, college or academy obtained over a minimum of a three-year period.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in security, risk, disaster or emergency management in the public or private service areas, such as national security, military or police, or in a corporate environment is required.
- Of these, at least 2 years of international experience in security operations is required.
- Management experience in the public, private or corporate sector is required.
- Fluency in English and basic knowledge of French is required.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
