    Operations Manager

    Objectives

    • Manages all area of telecommunications (Operations, Projects and new business).
    • Responsibilities include day-to-day administration of all activities.
    • Prepares long and short-range budgets and work plans.
    • Monitors adherence of the business approved budgets and work plans.

    Job Purpose

    • Plan, Control, Manage, Support and Track day to day network power and passive operations, power upgrades and energy Opex reduction to ensure continuous Optimal power availability of 99 % (and above) and Reduced network Operating expenses to meet corporate targets.
    • Establish and enhance quality of engagement with Partners and Customers.

    Key Accountabilities

    Expected End Results (“WHAT”) - List the expected end results that must be achieved in order to fulfil the job purpose

    • Responsible for day to day management of all The company sites Passive, power Operations & Maintenance (O &M) , Power Upgrade, site fueling to deliver optimal availability

    Supporting Activities (“HOW”) - (What are the key activities undertaken to achieve the desired end results?

    • Plan and coordinate swap and upgrades of power equipment such DG, AC & HVAC units, rectifier, batteries, transformers, stabilizers, power panels, inverters, UPS, Fire protection at switch sites/data centers, BSC, Back bones and BTS sites.
    • Management of passive and power equipment data base
    • Periodic audits of all installed power equipment in the network.
    • Managing resolution of passive issues and crisis due to emergency/unexpected break down of critical network power equipment
    • Management of spares and consumables to ensure availability of both critical and non-critical spares
    • Power and fueling of sites
    • Incidence management recommendations and follow up
    • Develop and manage scope and SLA for passive and power equipment maintenance
    • Set up and manage an efficient NOC
    • Document and ensure adherence to processes and procedures
    • Managing acceptance and signing of ATP documents, JCC and warranty certificates
    • Develop maintenance schedule on all passive equipment at all BTS, BSC, Transmission, MSC etc
    • Preventive Maintenance schedule, audit and tracking
    • Development of BOQ for power equipment, creation of RFQ and RFP documents, review and verify invoices, progress payments, billings and job closeout.
    • Provide design and support; suggest changes to specification and standards to regional personnel and vendors on preventive and corrective maintenance program on power equipment for more efficient operation.
    • Assists GM with management of daily telecommunications operations of the cooperative. Participates in policy development and interprets and administers programs according to policies and procedures.
    • Project/ Operations Planning and Scheduling: Plans, monitors and controls activities, proactively to maximize cash flow.
    • Assures the commitment commitments to customer are met, in accordance with contract, develops new business, ensure timely payment from customer
    • Encourages openness & respect, and build trust, confidence & loyalty with customers and partners.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Expected End Results (“WHAT”) - List the expected end results that must be achieved in order to fulfill the job purpose

    • Prepare and manage the annual operating plans OPEX for all passive network systems

    Supporting Activities (“HOW”) - (What are the key activities undertaken to achieve the desired end results?

    • Preparation of annual power budget on energy CAPEX and OPEX of power and passive equipment
    • Monitoring, controlling and tracking all OPEX and CAPEX expenses made on approved budget
    • Track and report achievement of Annual Operating Plan targets and report Opex savings achieved
    • Seek OPEX and CAPEX approvals for passive and power related expenses
    • Drive, monitor and control energy cost reducing projects – Hybrid, Solar, IPMS, PHCN etc
    • Bring the innovation through best practice replication and optimizing energy cost
    • Establish and enhance quality of engagement with Customers, Partners / Infra providers (by involving / carrying our pilots with partners / Infra providers for new innovations to achieve optimized Energy cost)
    • Ensure key focus on recurring operating expenditure.

    Expected End Results (“WHAT”) - List the expected end results that must be achieved in order to fulfil the job purpose

    • New concept development: Drive the end to end process, implementation and compliance to processes, procedures to ensure energy cost reduction

    Supporting Activities (“HOW”) - (What are the key activities undertaken to achieve the desired end results?

    • Evaluate concepts for improved power performance for the network as well as cost reduction /optimizing network OPEX
    • Co-ordinate the trials for new concepts (Hybrids, diesel CPH studies, solar, DC DG, etc). Analyze the results for the large-scale implementation
    • Establishment of process for large scale implementations and guide / advice/review them during the process of implementation
    • Align the resources (technology suppliers, users and O & M team) for proof of concept study. Co-ordinate, supervise the implementation and review the results. Based on the review detailed action plan is made along with expected potential after implementation.

    • Establish performance expectations and regularly review individual performance
    • Recommend appropriate rewards/recognition and penalties

    Requirements, Skills & Knowledge
    Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills:

    • Sound knowledge of field operations within the telecommunication environment
    • At least 10 years of experience in electrical and mechanical engineering with hands-on experience vis-à-vis generators and rectifiers.
    • Capable of handling projects at national level on energy efficiency
    • Possess good skills in operations and project management, energy management, energy planning for the existing and proposed facilities,
    • Conversant to green-field projects on energy efficiency and renewable energy applications.
    • Bachelor's Degree qualification.

    Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years):

    • 10 years of varied experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate change
    • At least 5 years managerial experience on power and energy in telecom field

    Salary
    N400,000 / month.
