Job Summary

• This role provides general clinical services in inpatient or outpatient areas based on assigned responsibilities.
• He/she will also be responsible for providing and performing surgical intervention for general surgical cases, obstetric and gynecological cases, and other lifesaving instances.

General Clinical Tasks

• Provide high quality clinical care based on analysis of relevant and available patient history/records, appropriate physical examination, available investigations and diagnostic facilities.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient services at the supported health facility based on assigned responsibilities.
• Provide accurate prevention information and/or diagnoses, and treatment including referrals and patient follow-up as per local/internationally accepted standards.
• Conduct routine and emergency procedures as per individual doctor’s training/certification in outpatient and inpatient departments based on assigned responsibilities and adhere to local/internationally accepted standards.
• Implement primary/secondary health care package at the respective health facility or mobile clinics with appropriate protocols and procedures in place.
• Ensure all IPC measures including standard sterilization practices are implemented as per IMC, MoH and WHO standards.
• Adhere to international drug usage protocols.
• Monitor disease trends and notify supervisor of any changes in trends which may require adjustment of activities; monitor closely the morbidity and mortality trends together with all the other health indicators.
• Identify any reportable diseases and notify supervisor and local health authorities; assist with outbreak response if needed according to international protocols.
• Implement primary/secondary health care package at the respective health facility or mobile clinics with appropriate protocols and procedures in place.
• Act as facility, department or services in charge based on assigned duties.
• Collect and analyze project and service data to inform and adjust project objectives/plans, strategic choices and quality of care in collaboration with IMC team members, local partners and other relevant staff if required.
• Provide health education to patients and community members concerning their diagnoses, healthy diets, physical activity, hygiene promotion, and disease prevention (such as need for vaccination, etc.)
• Work with program staff, health facility staff and auxiliary staff (e.g. CHWs) to provide both didactic and on-the-job training to build capacity and enhance their skills as needed.
• Promote a culture of learning whereby regular case discussions, lessons-learned and good practices are shared and promoted and documented for institutional memory.
• Adhere to administrative directives with regards to work schedules, record keeping, patient communications, re-stocking of essential drugs, consumables and other medical supplies.
• Work with health facility administration to determine the operational needs of the health facility in human resources, training and supplies.
• Keep clinical records by properly filling dedicated patient files and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Supervise the medical staff to ensure that work is done properly and efficiently.

Surgical Care Responsibilities:

• Conduct OPD and evaluate cases requiring surgical care, this may include general surgical care and gynae and obstetric surgical care. Make decisions based on ethical practices and surgical competence to admit and perform procedures or refer cases for advanced further care.
• Conduct daily ward rounds to see pre and post op patients, IPD patients and guide nursing staff on appropriate treatment.
• Conduct general surgeries for common cases requiring urgent and emergency intervention such as appendicectomies, obstructed hernias, RTAs, war wounds etc. following IMC policies, guidelines and MoH protocols in consultation with line manager and senior IMC management.
• Stabilize complex cases arriving in emergency and ensure timely and appropriate referrals.
• Conduct common obstetrics and gynecology surgeries including lifesaving maternal procedures based on scope of project and work.
• Ensure proper organization of the operating theater (OT), availability of equipment and facilities to perform surgeries in a suitable environment.
• Ensure strict adherence to IPC, aseptic techniques and sterilization of equipment required for surgeries and supervise processes.
• Conduct trainings needs assessment and arrange training of clinical staff in OT, IPC staff, IPD staff.
• Ensure post op orders are followed and patients are pain free following surgeries.
• Ensure surgeries are performed in the presence of trained anesthesia staff.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification:

• Typically, a medical Doctor with additional qualification in General Surgery /Obstetrics and Gynecology as required for the position in the country.
• Must have at least 3 years’ proven experience in performing common lifesaving emergency general surgeries, obstetrical and gynecological surgeries.
• Experience in supervising clinical staff in a primary or secondary health care facility.
• Should have managerial and leadership skills.
• Should have experience in training clinical staff.
• Willing to work in hardship areas with minimal resources.
• Able to work under stress in harsh environments.

Job Summary

• Provide maternal and newborn health services for women of all ages, including obstetric and newborn care to pregnant women and their babies, according to International Medical Corps obstetrical and maternal and newborn health protocols.
• The midwife should use universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and will work under the supervision of a specialist doctor to ensure their health conditions and avoid complications pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, delivery, and post-delivery.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Promote and introduce the International Medical Corps (IMC) integrated approach to VAWG services to institutions, centers, Primary Health Care centers (PHCs) and individuals.
• Plan and conduct psycho-social support sessions to beneficiaries at the Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSSs), the primary health care centers, the community centers and outreach field level.
• Identify opportunities for awareness raising, whether at a community center or other safe space.
• Organize focus group discussions on relevant information when needed.
• Conduct safety audits at the community level
• Engage men and boys within the VAWG-IMC Program and promote equal treatment regardless Of sex.
• Contribute and regularly update service mapping of service providers within the area of intervention to ensure that VAWG caseworkers are informed of all relevant and available services.
• Ensure safe identification and referral for beneficiaries including VAWG survivors to the VAWG case managers.
• Attend IMC and other requested trainings and meetings when available or requested in coordination with VAWG Program Officer and/or Program Manager.
• Prepare and submit reports and documentation for activities in a timely manner and report directly to VAWG-Officer.
• Plan, monitor, and follow up the work of outreach volunteers in the field
• Conduct any other programmatic activity as requested by the VAWG officer

Reporting:

• Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies, safe delivery services, emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC and CEmONC), essential newborn care, STI management,.
• Providing clinical care for for survivors of violence against women and girls.
• Assessing the feasibility of referral of pregnant women from the TBAs to the OPD/MCH.
• Ensuring hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met.
• Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
• Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
• Ensuring protection for patients’ privacy and confidentiality are respected. Supervising administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations.
• Conduct skilled deliveries independently and manage obstetric emergencies as per national/international protocols.
• Supervises the use of drugs, facilities and obstetric material for MNH services
• Provide quality of care for OPD and in patient management, proper health education and collaborate with another department.
• Ensure daily data quality on ANC, admission, delivery, PNC, healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies, OPD and discharge registration, proper documentation of referral cases, and strengthen linkages.
• Ensure nutritionally at-risk infants and their mothers also receive mental health and health promotion support (targeted to the infant developmental age) as part of an integrated approach to inpatient nutritional care and treating the infant and mother as one unit.
• Breastfeeding support including counseling on proper positioning, attachments, duration, frequency of feeding, effective suckling and double suckling.
• Provide timely and accurate reports.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification:

• Completion of a clinical midwifery education program with a General Nursing and Midwifery Certificate.
• Valid License from Nursing and Midwifery Council or similar accrediting body
• Clinical work experience of at least two (2) years as a professional midwife in low resource settings
• Language: English and local Languages are mandatory
• Essential computer literacy (word, excel, and Internet).

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualification:

• Typically, a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related fields (psychology, sociology, social animation etc.).
• An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
