    Head, Creative Digital Strategy

    Position Summary

    • Pulse is looking to hire a Head of Creative Digital Strategy who would be responsible for leading ideation and creative strategy, both pre-sales and post-sales, for potential and existing clients.
    • You will possess superior understanding of consumer behaviour and help to solve our clients’ various problems through creativity.
    • You will guide the Creative Strategy team, ensuring we are proposing the most effective strategies to clients to help them meet their campaign objectives.

    The Role

    • This position will be based in our Lagos office, reporting to the Director of Sales.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Lead the strategy teams across Africa in coming up with initiatives around our product offerings and train the sales teams on how best to propose and sell these to prospective and existing clients.
    • Dissect client briefs and propose innovative creative and marketing strategies that will enable brands to connect to their audiences and achieve their business goals in the most effective manner.
    • Conduct digital audits that yield rich insights into consumer and competitor’s online behavior and key motivational/attitudinal behaviour.
    • Develop a total understanding of online target audience and mindset modes.
    • Produce outstanding campaigns that drive growth and offer maximum value to our clients.
    • Create budgets for proposed strategies in line with our rate card, working with all relevant internal sales and execution teams.
    • Work with the post-sales account management and execution teams to develop a clear roadmap to realising the client’s vision.
    • Develop sales and marketing material to support the Sales teams across Africa.
    • Review proposals developed by members of the team, manage timelines and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.
    • Carry out detailed market research and improve your understanding of the competitive landscape in order to deliver effective brand planning.
    • Devise and implement improvements to tools and processes as well as make decisions based on credible metrics and well-reasoned analysis.
    • Support the sales team in any and all activities that will help the team meet its overall revenue and profit targets.
    • Drive client retention, renewals, upsells and client satisfaction.
    • Manage team learning sessions and enable knowledge sharing on an ongoing basis with the Sales teams internationally.
    • Manage the onboarding and training of new team members.
    • Coordinate team social events for networking as well as team building.
    • Communicate effectively to all team members and maintain strong, trusting relationships with all internal collaborators.
    • Stay up to date of the latest trends, industry issues and solutions and suggest improvements and innovations to help Pulse and our clients and partners maintain a competitive edge.
    • Represent Pulse at events and serve as a brand ambassador.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Experience leading a strategy/creative team within an agency or in-house
    • A portfolio that shows innovative creative strategies for other brands
    • Strong market research skills: understanding of customer insights, user research and audience segmentation
    • Superior knowledge of the Nigerian and global digital environment
    • Excellent copy and storytelling skills
    • Business-minded: can link strategies to results
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong PowerPoint skills and proficient in Google Slides, Excel, and Google Docs

    Senior News Reporter

    Position Summary

    • Pulse is looking for a Senior News Reporter with a solid editorial/ journalistic background who will research, monitor, fact-check and write news stories. with the Pulse audience in mind.
    • You will have a knack for breaking down complex topics to make them interesting, relatable and easy to understand.

    The Role:

    • This position will be based in our Lagos office, reporting to the Director of Content.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Collect, verify, fact-check and analyze newsworthy information thoroughly.
    • Create and deliver news stories (article, video and/or social posts) with the audience’s perspective in mind.
    • Proofread your work to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc.
    • Work on assignments and investigate news leads/tips.
    • Contact, interview and research sources.
    • Maintain notes and audio/video recordings.
    • Collaborate with other reporters, video editors, social media managers, producers etc.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest current events by properly monitoring news, attending events and building contacts and sources for use in future stories.
    • Attend press conferences, events, and file reports in a timely manner.
    • Develop and publish weekly reviews, opinion pieces and reports.
    • Edit and/or assist in editing and proofreading stories as assigned.
    • Ensure accuracy and consistency with the Pulse brand voice and adherence to the Pulse Content Framework.
    • Ensure published stories are fully compliant with copyright laws and are not plagiarized.
    • Actively contribute to the success of the Content team by developing story ideas, sourcing exclusive stories, and making other innovative suggestions.
    • Actively identify, suggest and implement strategies to increase the readership and reach of Pulse.
    • Stay keyed into trends and the competitive landscape to ensure that Pulse as a media brand is always ahead of the curve.
    • Abide by the core principles of journalism, the code of ethics for Nigerian journalists, as well as worldwide journalistic ethics and standards.

    • Experience covering/ writing news, current affairs and politics for a digital publication.
    • Great networking skills to source news stories and secure interviews.
    • Passion for producing exclusive stories with deep analysis.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Video Editor & Cinematographer Intern

    Reporting To:  The Head of Video

    Position Summary

    • Pulse is looking for a Video Editor & Cinematographer Intern who would support creating branded video content for our clients' video projects - this includes commercials, documentaries and special features.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support with creating high-quality video content for client video projects
    • Videography in-house and on the field or as assigned
    • Work with a brief, while developing pitch creative ideas and concepts, choosing the appropriate media and style to meet objectives.
    • Overall editing responsibilities and quality control of all edits - including choice of images and videos, soundtrack, text placement, proofreading and cross-checking facts, spelling, grammar, writing style, colour, etc.
    • Contribute to new video format development and implementation
    • Assistance on post-production activities
    • You may be required to support on more than one brief at a time and will therefore have to prioritise effectively, allocating the relevant amount of time and resources according to the value of the job - ensuring that deadlines are met on all video projects
    • Ensure proper organisation and safekeeping of video footage and logs
    • Any other duties assigned.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Basic experience working on branded video content is preferred
    • Basic knowledge of videography/ video editing portfolio
    • Knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc and a good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as it applies video post-production
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
