    Front Desk Officer/Receptionist

    VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: FRONT DESK OFFICER/RECEPTIONIST

    Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) is a Nigerian non-profit, and a knowledge-driven platform of active citizens working for the promotion of human rights, rule of law, democracy and accountability. CHRICED uses democratic principles to safeguard rights and ensure governance processes produce desirable outcomes, which reflect the quest of citizens for better social and existential conditions.

    As part of its strategic restructuring and expansion, the Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) is looking to fill the position of Front Desk Officer/Receptionist in its office in Kano State:

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Perform office administration and clerical duties
    • Promptly, professionally and courteously receives and assesses all incoming telephone calls /inquiries and re-directs calls or messages to the appropriate department
    • Take down messages and communicate to appropriate department
    • Collect, sort, distribute, and prepare mail, messages, or courier deliveries
    • Ensure receipt of magazines and newspapers for the office, and ensure display of the latest version in the reception as well as removal and proper storage of the outdated ones
    • Receive guests/visitors, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to the appropriate office
    • Place outgoing calls and conference calls, and set up virtual meeting/s as needed
    • Draft, review and proofread office documents
    • Perform basic data entry when needed
    • Stock and issue office supplies
    • Operate and maintain office machines including printers, copiers, scanners, and fax
    • Ensure the front desk is neat, presentable, and equipped with all the necessary supplies such as pens, forms, and papers
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with CHRICED rules and regulations
    • Notify Security Officer about unusual movements, breach and emergency situations
    • Assist in issuing guest passes and employee ID cards
    • Assist in making meeting room reservations, catering arrangements and travel bookings.

    SALARY SCALE:       This position is with competitive salary, depending on experience and qualifications

    CHARACTER:           Applicants for the position must be of good character.

    HOURS OFWORK:     The core hours for these positions will be 40 hours per week.  Details of starting and finishing times, which may vary in accordance with CHRICED needs, will be communicated to successful applicant. There will be times when post holders will be required to work outside of the normal office hours.

    HEALTH:                  A candidate holding this position must be medically fit in a state of mental and physical health, which is good enough for the discharge of the respective functions.

    ETHICAL CODE:      Successful candidate for this position would be guided by rules and regulations as contained in the CHRICED Employees’ handbook, the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest; and would observe and comply with general policies, procedures and regulations.

    Preference will be given to youth and women with requisite qualifications; proficiency in Hausa will be an advantage.
