    Electrical Technician

    Location: Ibadan, Oyo
    Reports to: Shift Team Lead
    Function: Operations
    Seniority Level: Non-Management

    Role Positioning and Objectives

    • The Electrical Technician supports the Shift Team Lead in delivering the PQCDSM – Production, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale, in order to achieve the Compelling Business Need by thorough application of RTT/ IWS tools.
    • Our new colleague, in conjunction with the Equipment Owner are ensuring their equipment is operated and maintained at base conditions and improvements required to reach goals are completed.

    What You Will be Accountable For

    • Collaborate across lines and cell with other technicians as required to maintain cohesive, responsive, flexible organization.
    • Mentor and develop Technician I and Operating Teams
    • Actively participate in project delivery and execution
    • As a member of Operating AM team, drives and performs all AM related activities and actions within Shift. Includes RTT DMS, step progression, and maintenance of standards
    • Use Risk Prediction whenever you are performing a non-routine task on your equipment (i.e. defect fixing)
    • Drives safety defects through completion with a high sense of urgency
    • Performs weekly & monthly CILs
    • Maintains and updates all standards in Equipment (i.e. CIL, OPLs, lube map, safety map, centrelines, defect list, etc.)
    • Capable to perform all PMs
    • Collaborates with PM resource to identify and update PMs as needed
    • Participates in Breakdown Elimination and leads improvements to eliminate reoccurring BDs
    • Continues to create OPLs to guide others how to help you keep your equipment maintained at standard
    • Understand, follow, and insure compliance with QA and HS&E Key Elements. Eliminate Root Cause of any outages
    • Lead issue resolution “to Root Cause” on the floor of chronic stops, especially during Shift DDS.

    Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

    • Academic qualification in City & Guilds (Engineering/Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation), NABTEB (Technical Trade), or National Diploma (Electrical/Electronics) from a recognized institution.
    • A strong working knowledge of technical training, fault finding, troubleshooting techniques on either Making or Packing machines
    • A good understanding of electrical, electronics and instrumentation processes, both hands on and theory will be required
    • Ability to interpret schematic drawings (to component level)
    • Intermediate knowledge on PLC's, HMI's and also good knowledge on Siemens SIMATIC S7 controllers
    • Knowledge of fault analysis of hardwire relay logic, motor control circuits, motor power circuits (120V to 480V 3phase) and common utility / lighting circuits
    • Ability to analyse problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
    • A high degree of inter-personal skills will be required to establish credentials and to pass on knowledge and experience to newer team members.
    • Effective communication skills in order to deliver superior performance
    • Ability to effectively prioritize competing needs
    • High level of personal responsibility and accountability for results.

    Packing Technician

    Location: Ibadan, Oyo
    Reports to: Shift Team Lead
    Seniority Level: Non-Management
    Function: Operations

    Role Positioning and Objectives

    • Individual is responsible to own and drive root cause analysis within a team of Equipment Owners/Operating teams for an Operating Line, Lines, or Operation.
    • The Technician II by his role supports the Shift Team Lead in delivering the PQCDSM – Production, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale - results necessary to achieve the Compelling Business Need by rigorous application of RTT/ IWS tools.
    • He is responsible, in conjunction with the Equipment Owner at ensuring their equipment is operated and maintained at base conditions and improvements required to reach goals are executed.
    • 95% of individual’s time will be spent on the Operating Floor working with the team. Individual is member of Operating (Autonomous) Team.

    What You Will Be Accountable For

    • Supports the Shift Team Lead in delivering the PQCDSM – Production, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale - results necessary to achieve the Compelling Business Need by rigorous application of RTT/ IWS tools;
    • Actively participate in project delivery and execution;
    • Serve as a technical operator and additional resource to operate and fix both operational and technical issues on responsible line(s) to meet shift PQCDSM results;
    • As a member of Operating AM team, drives and executes all AM related activities and actions within Shift. Includes RTT DMS, step progression, and maintenance of standards
    • Implement all required and recommended actions/responsibilities to support Operating teams through the IWS Phase Journey
    • Use Risk Prediction whenever you are performing a non-routine task on your equipment (i.e. defect fixing)
    • Drives safety defects through completion with a high sense of urgency
    • Key driver for analysing all safety risks and driving out losses associated with those risks
    • Performs weekly & monthly CILs
    • Maintains and updates all standards in Equipment (i.e. CIL, OPLs, lube map, safety map, centrelines, defect list, etc.
    • Ensures CIL is updated when there are learnings (i.e. breakdowns, process failures, etc.)
    • Ensures that the CIL is driving the elimination of unplanned breakdowns
    • Tracks CIL time daily and continues to drive down time by creating kaizens to address remaining HTRs and SOCs
    • Fixes defects found, submits notifications for defects equipment owner is unable to fix and continues to follow-up until defect is repaired
    • Runs equipment at centreline and can explain deviations
    • Understands link between Process Control Strategy (PCS) and CLs & CILs
    • Understand, follow, and insure compliance with QA and HS&E Key Elements. Eliminate Root Cause of any outages

    Work Schedule:

    • Shift rotation with off-shift and weekend support subject to prevalent shift pattern and as dictated by business requirements; this could include call-in support in extreme cases.

    Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

    • The role holder will require an expert knowledge of cigarette packing machinery with at least 5 years of “hands on” experience of running these machines in a production environment, thereby gaining technical mastery of equipment and can develop it in others
    • An academic qualification in City & Guilds (Engineering/Manufacturing/Transport Maintenance), NABTEB (Technical Trade), or National Diploma (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics) from a recognised institution
    • A strong working knowledge of technical training, fault finding, troubleshooting techniques on both Making and Packing machines will be essential to the success of the role. Overall strong technical skills.
    • In addition, a good understanding of mechanical processes, both hands on and theory will be required.
    • Understanding of storeroom operating strategies.
    • Ability to develop and effectively coach/train Equipment Owners and other technicians.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills desired.

    • Making sure that Process activities within the  complex under his jurisdiction are carried out correctly to meet volume demand and quality specifications in line with best practices, at an effective cost, in a hygienic and safe working environment. Individual is member of Operating (Autonomous) Team.

    What You Will Be Accountable For
    Role model leadership, inclusion, and 5E’s:

    • Participate in project delivery and execution
    • Participate in monthly performance review with Shift team lead and quarterly review with Line lead using scorecard/PAP
    • Participate in monthly/Quarterly department team meetings/briefings
    • Participate in Shift Transition Meeting and Planned Stop huddles/critiques, per the Site DDS DMS
    • Work with other Module equipment owners to maintain cohesive, responsive, flexible organization
    • Ensure all necessary documentations are completed and applicable company policies are complied

    Rigorous application of IWS tools / execute standards:

    • Deliver operational KPIs for Run to Target DMS execution
    • Use Risk Prediction whenever you are performing a non-routine task on your equipment (i.e. defect fixing)
    • Drives safety defects through completion with a high sense of urgency
    • Tracks stops daily and continues to drive out STOPS
    • Uses UPS tools (6W2H, Why-Why) for chronic stops to ELIMINATE them
    • Maintains procedures for C/O for their equipment current and drives improvements to optimize c/o time
    • Participates in Breakdown Elimination and leads improvements to eliminate reoccurring BDs
    • Runs equipment at centreline and can explain deviations
    • Submits notifications for defects equipment owner is unable to fix and continues to follow-up until defect is repaired
    • Submits notifications for defects he/she is unable to fix on own equipment and continues to follow-up until defect is repaired
    • Ensures that defects are FOUND and FIXED daily
    • Ensures that the CIL is driving the elimination of unplanned breakdowns
    • Ensures CIL is updated when there are learnings (i.e. breakdowns, process failures, etc.)
    • Drive and support the delivery PQCDSM - Production, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale

    Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

    • Academic qualification in City & Guilds (Engineering/Manufacturing/Transport Maintenance), NABTEB (Technical Trade), or National Diploma (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics) from a recognised institution.
    • Knowledge of cigarette making or packing machinery with at least 2 years of “hands on” experience of running these machines in a production environment
    • A strong working knowledge of technical training, fault finding, troubleshooting techniques on both Making and Packing machines will be essential to the success of the role. Overall strong defects finding and fixing around High loss areas.
    • Understands link between Process Control Strategy (PCS) and CLs & CILs
    • A high degree of inter personal skill will be required to establish credentials and to pass on knowledge and experience to newer team members
    • Knows the cigarette and pack components, its individual functions and its relevance for consumers
    • Identifies how the different elements of the cigarette/product design compose the smoking experience
    • Routinely/daily aware of Quality performance information and data analysis to either sustain or improve Product Quality.
    • Demonstrates an understating of key processes relating to Quality in their area of Supply Chain.
