    Education Programme Officer

    Position Title: Education Programme Officer

    Location: Maiduguri, Borno State, with travel around NE Nigeria

    Report to: Education Officer

    Deadline: 05/06/2020 (interviews will be offered as applications are received)

    Starting from: As soon as possible

    Contract duration: 1 Year

    Position Requirements

    Operational/Context Role

    Street Child is looking for a dedicated Programme Officer for our Education Projects across the North East. Street Child is implementing several UNICEF-funded projects in NE Nigeria. The goal is address out of school children issues across the conflict affected areas and ensuring that they are all receiving a safe and quality level of education. As part of Street Child’s global mission, all of the projects focus on building capacity and strengthening partnership with both government and non-government actors.  The Programme Officer will be required to support the Education Manager on all aspect of project delivery. This includes implementation of project activities, reporting and partner monitoring. The person will be required to work flexibly and provide ad-hoc support to the Education Manager as necessary.

    Good communication and team-working skills are essential, and the candidate must also be able to work independently. Analytical thinking, problem-solving and flexibility are expected.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Programme Delivery

    • Support the Education Manager to deliver timely planned activities
    • Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure best practice is adhered to in project implementation
    • Work closely with implementing partners to ensure quality implementation and accurate reporting
    • Support the Education Manager to identify and report problems with project implementation as they arise

    Reporting

    Support the Education Manager in keeping the Programme Manager informed on activity progress, including through regular reports

    3.     Partner Liaison  

    Support the Education Manager in identifying partner training/capacity building needs and conducting capacity building trainings

    Work closely with implementing partners to prepare and submit reports on approved frequency

    Qualification and experience:

    Experience:

    • Experience (at least 2 year) of working in Nigeria on Edcation
    • Experience of working in Borno State (an advantage, but not an requirement)
    • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities

    Language:

    Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.

    Technical skills

    • Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking and planning skills.
    • Strong monitoring and evaluation skills/experience
    • Knowledge of project cycle management.

    Terms and Conditions:

    Contract is for 1 Year, with an initial probationary period of 3 month. The salary will be proportioned to the candidate experience and balanced to the Street Child salary scale.
