    Community Mobilizer (RESILAC)

    Location: Monguno, Borno

    Position Summary

    • The Community mobilizer will support the Community Mobilization Officer to successfully implement the RESILAC project’s activities in the assigned target LGA.
    • He/she will lead community engagement for the project in that LGA to ensure activities are implemented using a participatory and conflict-sensitive approach that builds social cohesion and supports recovery and resilience.
    • He/she will also coordinate with all RESILAC partners working in the area and manage communication and relationships with partner CSOs and CBOs in the project.
    • The Community Mobilizer reports directly to and is line-managed by the Project Manager based in Maiduguri.
    • He/she will work in coordination with the other community mobilizer and officers and also provide support to the Psychosocial Specialist and National Trainer where needed. The position is based in Monguno. Frequent travel to the Maiduguri office will be required when necessary.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support Community mobilization officer to conduct social cohesion activities, dialogue platform meetings, and community initiatives following a participatory and conflict-sensitive approach in the project’s target communities
    • Support Project Manager, National Trainer, and Psychosocial Support Specialist with logistics for trainings, mobilization of participants, and other activities as needed when they are implementing activities under the RESILAC project
    • Liaise and share information with RESILAC partners (ACF and Neem Foundation) and their field teams to ensure coordination of activities and participant selection is in line with the goals and objectives of the overall project
    • Manage communication with volunteers and CSO/CBO partners and support capacity building for CSO/CBO partners
    • Have a thorough understanding of the project and be able to represent RESILAC at events and meetings where necessary, particularly the LGA Steering Committee meetings
    • Ensure all logistics and financial documentation for the project activities follow Search’s policies and compliance measures
    • Document all project activities by writing thorough activity reports and collecting data for indicator trackers
    • Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to adapt programming to further support social cohesion in target areas and to ensure the full RESILAC project is conflict-sensitive

    As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

    Required Profile

    • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience, preferably with an I/NGO
    • Proven experience and skills in community engagement
    • Experience and knowledge of peacebuilding and conflict transformation programming
    • Strong attitude for team work and collaboration
    • Good analytical and writing skills
    • Excellent working knowledge in English
    • Fluency in local languages, including Hausa and Kanuri
    • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
    • Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize workflow to tight timeframes, handle multiple tasks, and be flexible with changing priorities.
    • Ability to process detailed and/or new information readily and to put it into practice effectively
    • Ability to remain fully functional by adapting to high security risk environment and changing circumstances (environment, procedures and people)
