    Communications Fellow

    At the core of what we do at Ventures Platform Foundation is the impact we make through all our many programs and initiatives. To ensure we remain true to this and we are the best at what we do, we are looking to engage an extra smart and interesting candidate as 'Communications Fellow' who has a good flare for social media and communications.

    Our star candidate must possess superior writing skills and a willingness to learn and would be responsible for:

    The duties of the Communications Fellow will be to;

    • Assist in the Design, for our communications strategy

    • Implement the communications strategy designed for this program in collaboration with management.

    • Assist in the Preparation and distribution of content, including publications, press releases, website content, media reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the program’s activities.

    • Respond to media inquiries and arrange interviews relevant to enhancing the public image of the program.

    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain a media database relevant to promoting the program.

    • Maintain records of media coverage and collate relevant media analytics and metrics.

    • Oversee all creative inputs on the program’s communications and publications.

    • Support the team in any other task geared towards the success of the incubation program.

    SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

    • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in communications and media practice with competencies in New & Traditional Media.

    • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field; Exceptional candidates without these degrees will be considered.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, such as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and social media engagement, as well as traditional media channels.

    • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively

    • Ability to think innovatively and creatively in carrying out communication tasks.

    • Able to maintain records and develop relevant reports following stipulated frameworks.

    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders

    • Knowledge of the Technology/ innovation/startup space is an advantage.

    The Fellowship program will run for a dedicated period of 6months during which participants will be actively involved in executing real-life projects at the Foundation, access career coaching in the form of mentorship and scorecard evaluations, and access learning opportunities. Participants will be expected to work full time through the duration of the internship and will be bound by the policies and procedures of the Foundation.
