    Clean Cook Stoves Production Line Officer / Machine

    Reflecting on the conditions and challenges in Nigeria and using optimized engineering solutions, atmosfair is keen to establish a large-scale domestic clean cookstove production plant in Kano, Nigeria, and engage in innovative financing, manufacturing, and distribution solutions for energy-efficient clean cookstoves at affordable market prices throughout the country.

    Task Description

    Production of stove parts:

    • Set up shear, punching machine, and/or bending machine.
    • Retrieve workpieces from the warehouse or previous production steps.
    • Lift workpiece manually to machine bed and position it against side guide and end stops according to predefined sequences.
    • Operate machine to cut/punch/bend workpiece.    
    • Inspect work, using rule, gauge, or template to determine accuracy.
    • Rework pieces if necessary
    • Trim workpieces if necessary
    • Mark processed workpieces and arrange them for onward movement.

    Assembly of stoves:

    • Set up hand tool machines to assemble stove parts into the completed stove.          
    • Retrieve workpieces from the warehouse or previous production steps.
    • Place workpieces manually on the assembling table.              
    • Assemble the parts together using different hand tools as specified.             
    •  Inspect work, using rule, gauge or template to determine accuracy.
    • Mark assembled stoves and arrange them for onward movement.
    • May be designated to work on other machines as need arises.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and method of processing, including machine adjustment.
    • Responsibility for calibration, operation, and maintenance of machines ranging from drilling machines, punching machines, electric shears and bending tools.
    • Experience in the operation of forklifts is a plus.
    • Be conversant with operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction and proactively involve quality personnel for problem-solving.
    • Manage timesheets effectively, run schedules to organize and maintain production standards. Utilize inventory storage and retrieval system.
    • Train new workers on the machines and cookstoves assembly procedures, safe work practices, and any pertinent items regarding safety, quality and production.
    • Responsible for maintaining the 5s program for the work area.

    All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • National Diploma or Trade Test III in any engineering Course is required. HND
    • A minimum of an SSCE with 5 years’ professional experience working in a similar environment would be considered in lieu of a National Diploma.
    • Experience in calibration, operation, and maintenance of at least 2 of the following machines: drilling machines, punching machines, electric shears, and bending tools.
    • Certificates on machine and forklift operations are a plus.
    • Experience in an assembly plant in similar job roles. Experience in different roles is desirable.
    • 3 years’ minimum work experience.
    • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in production and assembly operation.
    • Able to work with little or no supervision.
    • Training would be provided on the work/task to be done.
    • Language requirement:
    • Well spoken and written English
    • Conversational Hausa language is a plus.
    • Working Hours: Full-time work hours are 40 hours per week [Monday to Friday]. Extra hours may be required to meet production targets and could also involve some weekend work. Extra hours will be remunerated.
