    Business Advisor

    Description

    • We are looking for a Business Advisor for the MSME Survival and Recovery Project (Lagos)

    About the Program

    • The MSME Survival and Recovery Project will support micro and small growing businesses in Lagos, particularly in areas demonstrating high levels of reduced business operations due to environmental and economic shocks that have occurred in the past year by helping them with the skills and resources needed for long-term business stability and growth and resilience.

    Primary Purpose:

    • The Business Advisor will work with the project lead to provide capacity building and aftercare coaching support to the businesses.
    • S/he will facilitate business linkages, gather market intelligence and monitor performance.
    • It should be understood that the tasks outlined below are the key responsibilities, but the employee will be expected to perform any tasks that are necessary within the context of the evolving needs of the project.

    Project Inception Phase:

    • Identify, engage and recruit MSMEs.
    • Supervise quality data collection activities on the field. 

    Project Implementation Phase:

    • Ensure the provision of quality data on a timely basis for baseline and endline activities as well as external reporting purposes.
    • Identify partnerships that will support resilience to participants. 
    • Work with participants in identifying new business opportunities and support the development of a business case. 
    • Support the project lead in achieving all project targets.
    • Develop success stories for dissemination internally within TechnoServe and externally. 
    • Provide technical inputs in close collaboration with all stakeholders
    • Support project closeout activities. 
    • Any other tasks that may be assigned.

    Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities or any related discipline. 
    • Demonstrated ability in working with small and growing businesses for 3 to 5 years post-NYSC.
    • Ability to engage and advise a broad range of stakeholders, including senior management of private sector companies, donor representatives, and others;
    • Demonstrated experience in data collection and analyses. 
    • Experienced in writing excellent reports.
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
    • Proven skills with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge in the use of Commcare, KoBoCollect will be an advantage.
    • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
