About Hand Of Help Charity
Hand of Help UK is a young company, operating from our headquarters in Leeds. Established in 2007 it has grown relentlessly, exceeding the most optimistic expectations and since the start of its operations the number of people working for Hand of Help UK has increased from just 2 to 310 (May, 2011). One of our main goals is to increase employment (directly as well as through providing financial aid), and we are very proud to have come this far.
We specialize in collection and recycling of clothes, using door-to-door and Textile Bank collection scheme throughout the UK. Due to the rising trend of cheep disposable clothing, thousands of tons of clothes and millions pairs of shoes are thrown away in the UK every year. This puts immense pressure on our already overstretched landfill sites. The majority of this can actually be recycled into new products or reused in developing countries, this way saving natural resources and providing support to those who really need it.
We generate profits through donations of unwanted items, which are then distributed to our partnering charity foundations. We support the neediest of charities, operating in poor countries and in most cases we provide the biggest portion of their total income.
